Cambridge vs Dagenham by Luke
Cambridge comes from two very negative performances in a row, where the team failed to score a single goal. After a disappointing defeat at home against Crawley Town 0:3, they put up another unimpressive performance last weekend away to Barnet staying to a goalless draw. It was another failure for their midfield and creative players and they could be satisfied with a point taken.
After quite impressive start, they now must win, even though it's just a Cup game, in order to boost their morale and recover the faith from their fans. After five rounds played, the team has two victories, two draws and a defeat, being currently at ninth position with eight points, just a point below play-off zone. Striker Barry Corr (three matches and five goals scored) was absent in previous two games and his absenteeism was more than obvious, but now is expected to be in the mission. Striker Rory Gaffney is constantly out from the beginning of the season without playing a minute for now.
Dagenham, on the other side, is having quite negative start in the season, something that was expected since their schedule wasn't easy at all. Already now it looks like it will be impossible for the team to fight for promotion, while middle of the table seems more realistic goal after winning only two points in first five rounds of League Two.
Portsmouth, Leyton Orient and Exeter defeated them, while the team got a point against Wycombe and Stevenage so far, being also eliminated in Capital One Cup against Charlton with a 4:1 defeat. After six official matches, they are without a victory and surely that the atmosphere isn't at the greatest possible level with the side being quite desperate for some positive result. They were very close to get the victory in latest game at home against Stevenage and looked like a better side for the most of the game, which could speak in their favor that the team is slowly getting into better form. Defender Nyron Nosworthy (5/0) picked up a knock in previous game and is doubtful for this one.
Cambridge remains slight favorite, but their performances are far from reliable. Dagenham will surely try to play as open as possible having nothing to lose, which should result in many goals in this one. More than the bookmakers, giving us a decent value.
