Brighton vs Nottingham Forest by Shibby
Championship action on a Friday night for me. The game will see last seasons play off losers Brighton host Nottingham Forest. The game will be played at the AMEX Stadium, Brighton and will kick off at 19:45.
This is my first tip of the season as I like to see what players teams have bought/sold before making judgement. Brighton have brought in some good players and look like they've added some real strength to their already decent squad. They've brought in some players like, Sidwell (was their on loan last season), Ben Hall (Motherwell), Glenn Murray (Bournemouth), Sam Adekugbe (Vancouver) and Oliver Norwood (Reading). That coupled with them keeping quality like Knockaert will surely see them close to the play off places.
Their first game of the season was a well earned 0-0 draw away at promotion favorites, Derby. Both teams played a strong XI and pretty much shut each other out. Brighton for me had the better of the possession and I thought could have took all 3 points.
They also played a cup game on Tuesday at home vs Colchester United (League Two) which finished 4-0 in favor of Brighton. Chris Hughton made a lot of changes so his strongest XI should be rested ready for the game against Forest where I'm sure Hughton will want to get all 3 points to kick start their season.
The visitors for the game are Nottingham Forest, they have started the season very well and looked impressive on the opening day when they beat Burton 4-3 in a very entertaining game. What stood out to me was the fact that Assombalonga was back in the starting XI and back in the goals! He has always had the potential to score goals and if he proves his fitness I'd be surprised if he was at Forest next season! He is a quality player and Forest missed him loads last season.
For me Forest will often concede goals as I don't think their defense is quite good enough, however, now they've added goals to their game they should be a safe bet for BTTS quite often this year.
Forest, like Brighton also won in a cup game on Tuesday when thy beat League Two side Doncaster Rovers, 2-1. Forest were lucky as they scored the winner in the 91st minute! Forest also making changes to their squad.
I expect this to be quite an open game as I feel that early on in the season a win at this stage for either side could kick start their season. Therefore, I'll be backing BTTS at a price of 2.00 with William Hill. Good Luck all.
