Brest vs Orelans by Lucien
Brest can't be fully satisfied with the start of the new season, since the team was very close to promoted in the previous season to Ligue 1 and stood as one of the favorites for promotion before the new one, but the side ist only at seventh position for the moment - however with just two points less than play-out third placed side and with plenty of time to improve.
They were on a run of nine undefeated matches (six victories and three draws), but the side suffered heavy defeat last Friday evening when they visited Nimes and stood completely outplayed with a 4:0 result. They simply entered poorly into the game, conceding a goal in sixth minute via Bozok, but remained decent in the first halftime, however, once they stood playing with a man less in 43rd when Sissoko got excluded, it was all over for the visitors. Hosts scored once again, in 51 st minute via Bozok again, while the guests stood playing with another man less when Diallo got red carded in 54th minute, as the game turned out to a one sided one, with the hosts scoring twice more, in 59th minute via del Castillo and a third goal from Bozok in 83rd minute.
Midfielders Habibou Mouhamadou Diallo (7/3) and Ibrahima Sissoko (7/0) are both suspended for this one.
Orelans, on other side, entered the new season with ambitions to avoid relegation since they were eighteenth placed side in Ligue 2 in previous season and avoided the relegation thanks to additional play-out matches against Paris FC and are generally looking decent so far in the new season.
Having in mind their ambitions and potential at form, the side is at decent fourteenth position with six points more than play-out placed Lens, but are coming in a poor run at the moment having five matches in a row without a victory - having a point earned and four defeats. In the most recent game, the side has suffered home defeat against Lorient 1:2, even though they took the lead first in 45th minute with an own goal. They were better in first and deserved the goal, but the opponents appeared way more quality in the second halftime and completely outplayed them deserving the victory which they got via goals from Conte in 62nd and Majeed in 84th minute.
- Orleans have failed to win any of their last 5 matches.
After such a heavy defeat last time out, players of Brest will surely want to make impact here from the start and impress once again. Orelans is not risking a lot in this one and can only benefit, while the side anyway remains way better in attack than what their defesive line looks like. It's something that should bring the game to over 2.5 goals easier than what the odds suggest.
