Bordeaux vs Monaco by Lucien

Bordeaux suffered narrow 0:1 defeat at home against Lille last weekend, disappointing for the first time since quite a few weeks. The team was undefeated in all competitions in previous eight matches, but weren't up to the task against obviously in-form side that finally started to play as a unit, as a team.

However, it needs to be said that the final result was more than fair since the visitors created way more chances and deservedly took the lead in 44th minute with a goal from De Preville, while the home team missed a penalty kick towards the end of the game, out of rare chances created for them. Overall, victory of Lille should have been with a bigger margin. Bordeaux is now at seventh position, just three points below the Europa League placed Rennes.

Bordeaux is set to play in 4-4-2 formation with Menez and Laborde as strikers. Left full back Maxime Poundje (6/0) is injured, same as offensive midfielder Thomas Toure (6/0), goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso (8/0), while central defender Gregory Sertic (12/1) and forward Diego Rolan (13/4) remain doubtful.

Monaco comes from a very convincing victory in front of own fans against Bastia last weekend, as the team celebrated 5:0 three pointer. They were simply better from the first moment and cruiesed to a victory with goals from Mbappe in tenth, but also four more inside the second halftime via Lemar, Falcao two times and Carrilo.

Visitors from Monaco should be playing in 4-4-2 formation with Falcao and Germain as strikers. Goalkeeper Danijel Subasic (15/0) is doubtful, same as forward Kylian Mbappe-Lottin (8/3) who is having ankle problem. Match comes too soon for left full back Benjamin Mendy (9/0) who is unfit for this one and shouldn't be used.

  • Bordeaux have scored at least 3 goals in their last 3 home matches against Monaco.

Bordeaux suffered first defeat in last seven matches and their confidence can't be at the best possible level. Monaco has showed so much more during the season and should be able to convert all three points here. Visitors have so much more individual quality and should be very fired up to break recent negative tradition away to Bordeaux.
