Bodo/Glimt vs Stromsgodset by 20Legend
A very disappointed away team had to conclude with zero points and a long trip back home after losing against Stabaek (1-0) last Monday. It was really a decisive match as Bodo/Glimt was three points clear of Stabaek in 13th place which is the last safe spot. However, Stabaek’s three points on Monday reversed the situation, which means that Bodo/Glimt is on 14th place that gives qualification in order to stay in Tippeligaen next season. However, Bodo/Glimt has the same amount of points as 13th placed Stabaek at the moment with 27 points each.
The match against Stabaek was filled with chances both ways and it was not many that were able to understand why Bodo/Glimt did not score as well. The match involved two teams that monitored every movement on the opposite team. That turned out to be a nervous atmosphere as both teams knew how important the first goal would be. Bodo/Glimt continued using their dangerous counter-attacks as their weapon, while Stabaek controlled most of the ball and tried to find the right passes.
Both teams were staggering against each other’s wall of defense including some strong saves from both goalkeepers. Stabaek finally managed to breach the defense after 62 minutes, when youngster Hanche-Olsen found the net after a nice pass by winger Muhamed Keita. Bodo/Glimt still tried to respond, but the game faded out with the one goal.
Stromsgodset was not satisfied with their draw against out-of-form Odd (1-1) last weekend. It was probably the goodbye to a top 3 position this season with six points up to 3rd placed Odd. The game should definitely been involving more goals though as the first five minutes gave the final score. Odd came out strong with a goal after just 30 seconds when winger Bentley found the back of the net. However, Stromsgodset quickly equalized when Adjei-Boateng scored after five minutes.
The rest of the game suddenly went into a game of possession and not effective football at all. Stromsgodset created the most dangerous chances, but it was like the time stood still with none of the teams being able to produce anything near the opening minutes. A point was therefore only fair in the end. Stromsgodset is now in 7th place with 36 points, but a strong finish could be giving them a 4th or 5th place in the end as the gap is only three and four points. Midfielders Marting Ronning Ovenstad (14/1), Petter Vaagan Moen (17/2) and Tokmac Nguen (13/3) are all missing through injuries.
With only five games left of the season, 14th placed Bodo/Glimt will certainly want to grab all three points tonight. If they do, it will probably give them enough space to be safe from direct relegation as 15th placed Lillestrom would then be seven points behind before this weekend. Stromsgodset has no chance of capturing a top 3 position anymore, but they can still fight for a top 5 position. However, I believe that this game were Bodo/Glimt will desperately trying to get the first goal before coming into a more defensive mode.
Stromsgodset has not been the sharpest of teams away from home either (2-2-8) which should make it tough for them to score many goals tonight as well. Usually this game will be involving at least three goals, but I think that Bodo/Glimt’s current situation combined with Stromsgodset’s poor away from will take lot of the huge chances away here. Under 2.5 goals seems more valuable right now.
