Bochum vs Freiburg by Gustav
Bochum looked actually really good in the preparation period after the New Year celebration and the team will be hoping to continue in the same manner as they enter the second phase of Bundesliga 2, trying to get somehow to the promotional positions and finally get back to Bundesliga after many years. At the moment, they are at rock solid sixth position at the table, having twenty-eight points, five less than third placed Nurnberg and it's no secret that they need to make a great entrance into the second part of the season in order to continue having some hopes of reaching the top three positions.
They ended the previous year with a goalless draw away to Duisburg, but also with a success in DFB Pokal, where the team secured their quarter-finals ticket after victory over Munich 1860 away from home with a 2:0 result. During the preparation period, the side had a goalless draw against Stuttgart at first, but also victories over Hertha 4:1, Gladbach 5:2 and finally, 2:1 victory against Leverkusen two weeks ago. Surely results that are way above any side in 2.Bundesliga, so there is no doubt that they will be going into this one with improved morale. Hosts won't be able to count at defender Gyamerah and forward Gunduz, both without performance this season.
Freiburg, on the other side, is having better starting position for the re-start of the season, since the team currently stands at the second position at the table, having three points less than leaders from RB Leipzig and five points more than third placed Nurnberg. However, they didn't look that convincing in matches away from home, having only four victories in nine games and there is no doubt tha the team awaits very tough test during their visit to Bochum.
The team was one of the most interesting to watch in whole league, since the team had scored fourty-three goals in nineteen matches, but also have conceded twenty-two goals, without any doubt being very attractive to watch, especially when playing in front of own fans when they usually preferred very attacking style. Their coach Christian Streich will have plenty of problems ahead of this game, since he can't count at next players: defender Mujdza (12/0), right full back Lukas Kubler (0/0), central midfielder Julian Schuster (8/1), offensive midfielder Mats Moller Daehli (2/0) and forward Mike Frantz (17/3) and striker Nils Petersen (18/5), Tim Kleindienst (7/0) and Maximilian Philipp (18/4, 7 assists) all due injuries.
Bochum will surely attack here, trying to get advantage of many injured players for Freiburg. There is no doubt that the visitors will respond with attacks as well, hopefully ending with over 2.5 goals and both teams scoring.
