Birmingham vs Nottingham by Shibby
Another Championship fixture for me on a cold Tuesday evening in Birmingham (15/09/2015). The game will be played at St. Andrews and will kick off at the usual time of 19:45 (UK Time). The game will see hosts Birmingham vs Nottingham Forest in a clash that I think we will see goals.
The hosts Birmingham have started the season really well and I must say I've been impressed! I did back Birmingham to win on Saturday vs Bristol City so I'm glad their form continued. As I said in this post, I fancy Birmingham to have a good season and they seem to be going on a good run of form. The hosts head into the game tonight (15/09/2015) on the back of 3 straight victories (2 league and 1 cup). Also, with the 4-2 win against Bristol City on the weekend Birmingham still remain unbeaten in all competitions, which is a great start as far as I'm concerned.
Birmingham were 3-0 up at half time so the game was almost over, all they needed to do was play possession football which from what I've seen of them this season they do really well. It was Donaldson this time who was the hero, scoring 3 goals (hatrick) within just 41 minutes gone! A late Grounds goal for the Brum ensured they saw out the game comfortably. Birmingham moved to 4th in the table after this win on 11 points.
The thing from Sat that stuck out to me was the fact that Birmingham are liable at the back at times and do sometimes give their opponents chances to score. This has been the case a lot this season with Birmingham only managing 1 clean sheet (vs new boys MK Dons).
The visitors for tonight's clash are Nottingham Forest who currently sit in 13th in the table. They've not started this season as well as many would have expected. However, when you look at the facts they have only lost one league game from 5, which isn't too bad in my opinion.
Their last fixture was a great result as they came away from Loftus Road with all 3 points after beating Championship favourites QPR 2-1. The hosts took the lead in the 65th minute through top scorer Charlie Austin, from then on QPR looked set to take all 3 points, however, a penalty from Henri Lansbury in the 75th minute gave Forest a boost and they started to dictate the play. Then in the 82nd minute a goal from Portuguese striker Nelson Oliveira secure all 3 points for Forest! The forest fans will be hoping this is his first of many goals to come this season. I know on paper this sounds like an amazing result, however, we can't forget that QPR keeper Rob Green received a red card in the 72nd minute, which obviously shook the hosts and for me this was the reason Forest won the game. Still, this will have given Forest the confidence to travel to Birmingham tomorrow night (15/09/2015) in the hunt for a win. I expect both teams to attack and I'm sure both will want to win the game. Like Birmingham, Forest have only kept 1 clean sheet this season in the league and that was a 0-0 draw against Charlton, so they also look liable in defence. Also, Forest have scored in 4 of the 5 league games this season and I expect this to continue vs Birmingham.
Both teams are capable of scoring goals, we've seem this already this season with Birmingham scoring 11 and conceding 6 from their first 5 games. Forest not as impressive with 6 goals scored and conceded from 5 games. So they both average more than a goal per game at both ends. For this reason alone I'll be backing BTTS at a price of 1.71 with 10BET. Good Luck all.
