Auxerre vs Nimes by Lucien
Auxerre looked pretty well last time out in Ligue 2 ten days ago on Friday night, when the team visited Tours and walked away with a 2:0 victory. They were bit better in the first halftime and took the lead via an own goal in fourteenth minute, while the hosts responded well in the repetition.
Home side surely looked better and had better chances in the second halftime, however visitors managed to seal the victory with a goal from Konate in 74th minute a bit against the flow of the game, managing to record now their fifth game without a defeat in Ligue 2 (having three victories and two draws).
The side is now at 12th position on the table having eight points more than relegation worried Quevilly Rouen and probably going towards end of the season without much worries regarding it. They disappointed last midweek, when the side surprisingly lost to Les Herbiers in Couple de France 1/8 finals game at home with a 0:3 result.
Auxerre will miss defender Sane (12/1), midfielders Obraniak (16/0), Barreto (3/0), Adeoti (22/2) and forward Fumu Tamuzo (10/0).
Nimes, on the other side, didn't manage to get a three pointer in front of own fans last time out against AC Ajaccio staying to a 1:1 draw even though they were set as quite a strong favorite before the clash.
They looked better in the first halftime and had much more of the ball possession and chances created, surely even deserving to take the lead, continuing in the same manner in the second half too, however conceded a goal against the flow of the game in 53rd minute via Gimbert.
Once they conceded a goal, they only managed to level up the result in 74th minute via Thioub, despite the fact that they were attacking and chasing that second goal. This was third game without a victory, but at least have broken the mini run of two defeats, being now at fourth position at the table with a point less than second and direct promotion placed AC Ajaccio.
Guests will miss suspended defender Harek (18/1), also defensive Boscagli (16/0) due injury, as well as midfielder Paquiez (15/0) and forward Depres (13/1).
- Auxerre are undefeated in their last 5 matches.
Nimes has no other option here but to chase all three points after two back to back defeats on the road, while Auxerre plays some decent football lately and are not needing much chances in order to score. An open game is what I expect here, very likely with both teams to score with ease, while Nimes remains at least slight favorite to get all three.
