Aston Villa vs Nottingham Forest by Shibby
Championship action today for me. A game that I will be watching carefully as we have Forest next Wednesday, so I'll be checking them out! The game will be played between ex premier league side Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest and will kick off at 13:15 and will be played at Villa Park, Birmingham.
The hosts Villa have not started life in the Championship as they would have liked, they currently sit in 17th in the tables after gaining just 5 points from their first 5 games! I think everyone expected Villa and new manager Di Mateo to have a good season, they have brought in some quality players, players who are capable of scoring goals! They have ex Bristol City striker Kodjia, Ross McCormack and Rudy Gestede in their attacking options.
Their league form is just one win, two draws and two defeats. The only side they have beat was Rotherham United 3-0 at Villa Park, nothing to shout about really. What Villa do have is a +0 goal difference, they have scored and conceded 5 goals (a goal per game in either net on average). I know they have goals in the team, I also know they can be easily broken down at the back! Villa's last game ended 3-1 in favour of Bristol City. I expect the Villa fans to turn up and get their team up for the game as 3 points here is vital at this early stage!
The visitors for the game are Nottingham Forest, they didn't start the season too well and lost two games to nil early on. These games were against Brighton and Brentford. However, since the return of Assombalonga they have looked like a different team. He was missing for their last game, however, I've heard a rumour that they have not discounted his chances of playing, this will be a massive boost!
Forest head into the game in 12th in the league knowing that a win could move them from 12th to 2nd in the table, I expect them to push for a victory here as they are on a good run, they have won their last three league games. The three games they have won have been against Burton, Wigan and Leeds, so no real world beaters, however, what stands out to me is that in each victory they have scored and conceded in every game won.
They have goals in the team, however, like Villa they also concede quite a few goals! They too have a goal difference of +0 as they have scored and conceded 11 goals! That's more than 2 goals in each net on average!
I think with what is at stake here, BTTS is a good bet, I'll therefore be backing that at a price of 1.91 with William Hill. Good Luck all!
