Asteras vs Giannina by Isaiah
Asteras Tripolis in the last game before this one, managed to take a great 3:0 home victory over PAOK last weekend. They were better throughout the game and reached fairly deserved victory with two goals from Gianniotas and one from Sankare, with all three being scored within the first fourty-five minutes.
After that victory atmosphere in the team is at a very good level, as the team bounced back with more than positive result after a defeat to Kerkyra week before the match against PAOK. Now they remained fourth at the table, but with only two points less than third placed Panathinaikos. They are undefeated at home with five victories and three draws and are aiming only for all three points today as they need to remain in contact with the leading trio as their target remains playing the play-off stage later on possibly trying to snatch the Champions League somehow. Central defender Dimitrios Kourbelis (11/0) is suspended for this game, while right winger Ziguy Badibanga (4/0) remains injured and won't perform in next weeks as well.
PAS Giannina, on the other side, comes from a goalless draw against Panetolikos on the road a few days ago. They were quite poor in the first half, but managed not to concede a goal mostly thanks to a great day of their goalkeeper Vellidis, while the things turned around in the repetition and they missed some nice chances to score a goal, but mostly attacking without any success.
Their goalkeeper admitted after the game that the team was very lucky not to concede in the first halftime, but saying that they deserved the draw with the performance in second part, as the team wants to show that they are more creative side. Still, the team has no victory in last four matches on the road, scoring only once in these four games. Anyway, they stay at the seventh position, three points fifth placed and play-off placed Panetolikos. Defensive midfielder Iraklis Garoufalias (1/0), midfielder Charilaos Charisis (11/0) and important left winger Noe Acosta (17/2) are all three sidelined with injuries.
Asteras is in a much better form at the moment, are coming from a morale boosting victory and have much more quality and experienced individuals than their opponents. Easy or hard, it simply has to be a home victory tonight.
