Ascoli vs Foggia by Enzo
After a run of six matches without defeat in Italian Serie B, players of Ascoli have suffered now two consecutive defeats, firstly away from home against Bari very convincing with a 3:0 result, but then also on the road against Carpi last weekend with a 4:2 result.
They took the lead first, in 19th minute via Parlati, but the hosts managed to revert the scoreline with two goals from Malcore, however Favilli leveled up during the additional time of the first halftime. Carpi was way more concrete in the second halftime and sealed the victory thanks to goals from Malcore again and Carletti, in a game that was quite an open one and could have ended way differently on some other day. Ascoli now shares the rock bottom position with two more teams, but still being just two points behind safely placed Perugia.
Hosts should miss defenders Padella (11/0) and Mignanelli (9/0), but also midfielder Buzzegoli (13/0) and forward Favilli (11/5) as well.
Foggia, on the other side, comes from pretty disappointing 2:3 defeat at home against Cremonose last Saturday after noon, as the team entered the game better and had the double lead thanks to goals from Coletti and Beretta in 35th and 38th minute, but lack of concentration cost them two goals till the end of the first hlaftime (Brighenti and Mokulu were the goal scorers).
Must be said that they had better chances than the opponents, but failed to convert these into goals, while Piccolo brought the hosts into the lead in 56th minute for the final result. Foggia is now just a point above today's opponents and surely aiming to get something in a match against direct relegation battle opponent.
Guests have midfielder Gerbo (11/2) suspended for this one, while injured remain defender Rubin (9/0) and forward Floriano (5/1).
- Last three matches of Ascoli ended with over 2.5 goals.
This match probably means much more than the three pointer only, since the side struggle for now in the red zone. Ascoli plays quite an open minded and attacking football, just the same as players of Foggia who have scored more than some of top teams in the league, but are highly unreliable at the back. Having that in mind, over goals seems like a perfect choice here.
