Antwerp vs Kortrijk

Antwerp surprised a bit in the season-opening game away from home against Charleroi. Even though they were set as a slight underdog and their defeat was expected, the side managed to improve and get a narrow 1:0 victory despite the odds given.

The only goal came in the sixteenth minute via Yatabare, in a game that wasn't very interesting. The first halftime was quite an equal one, while the home team tried to be more concrete in the second halftime and have created a bit more, but the goal never came. Antwerp had some really decent results in the pre-season matches (victories over PAOK and Panathinaikos) and their decent start shouldn't surprise a lot.

The home team should have no real fresh injury worries ahead of this one. Defender Dylan Batubinsika is doubtful due muscle problem.

Kortrijk got completely outplayed in the first round of the new season when they welcomed Anderlecht and suffered 1:4 defeat. One of the strongest sides in the county was determined to enter the season in a proper way and there was nothing left for them but to pay a high price for it.

Guests entered the match in the best possible way and took the lead already in the third minute via Santini while Dimata doubled up the lead in the 31st minute. Kortrijk didn't threaten at all in the first halftime and it continued during the whole game. Santini scored two more goals in the second halftime, in 48th and 73rd minute.

Hosts, however, managed to reduce the deficit via an own goal of Anderlecht's defender Vranjes in the 85th minute. It won't be easy, but the side has no other option but to seek improvement now on the road.

Central defender Lucas Rougeaux is still injured without playing in the new season. Defensive midfielder Bennard Kumordzi won't be able to help the team till middle September due suspension. Defender Denzel Budde and midfielder Anthony van Loo are both coming slowly from injuries but still unprepared to play full matches.

Antwerp is a close favorite in this one and should be able to overpower the opponent one way or another. However, having in mind that Kortrijk does look just a bit better individually and that they are surely seeking improvement in this one, my first betting choice will be both teams finding a net at least once.
