Antalyaspor vs Fenerbahce by Isaiah
After a very poor start into the season, Antalyaspor improved a lot in previous weeks and are now on an undefeated run of five matches in Turkish Super Lig. They actually had four victories in a row, all four taken with narrow 1:0 result, before their winning streak got interrupted last weekend away to league leaders from Basaksehir.
Even though it's not a victory, result itself represent great success, since they stood really great against much favorited team. They entered the game better and took the lead in 13th minute via Eto'o, however hosts leveled up six minutes later via Tekdemir. Players of Basaksehir entered the second half better and took the lead in 47th via Mossoro, but Eto'o leveled up from the penalty kick taken in 65th minute. After this draw, the they remain above the relegation zone having six points less than red zone placed Rizespor.
Home team will be playing in their typical 4-4-2 formation with Kadah and Eto'o as strikers. Defensive midfielder Charles (13/0) is suspended for this one, with Yekta Kurtulus stepping in to replace him.
Fenerbahce had quite uninteresting derby game at home against Besiktas last weekend, that ended as a goalless game. Neither of the teams impressed actually, with Besiktas having a bit more of the ball possession, while the home team created some more concrete things upfront, but overall, neither of them did enough in order to score a single goal.
After this draw, Fenerbahce remains fourth at the table, having seven points less than leaders from Basaksehir and Besiktas meaning that they are in a must win situation here. During the midweek, the team won a bit surprisingly away to Feyenoord in Europa League thanks to a goal from Sow in 22nd minute, securing the first position in a very tough group being together with the Dutch team, but also Manchester United and Ukrainian side Zorya.
Visitors from Istanbul will be playing in 4-2-3-1 formation with van Persie set as central striker most likely, plus Lens, Potuk and Sow as offensive midfielders behind his back. Left back Ismail Koybasi has returned from suspension but isn't likely to start here.
- Antalyaspor have seen over 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 8 matches against Fenerbahce.
- Fenerbahce have scored at least 2 goals in 6 of their last 7 matches against Antalyaspor.
Both teams are in a good form at the moment, but the visiting side remains a favorite for this one. However Antalyaspor is in a good momentum and coming from morale boosting point taken against table leaders and I'm sure that the home team will have enough chances to score once at least, if not to take point(s) as well.
