Amkar vs Stabaek by 20Legend
Amkar Perm has played seven club friendlies so far since the end of January, but only managed to grab one win. Their only win came against Zilina B (5-0), but the opponent was not at the highest level as you could imagine. 1-4-2 is their total statistics from their club friendlies with 8-5 on goal difference. They are not known for being the highest scoring team in the Russian league either with 16 goals in 18 games. They actually played yesterday as well against Shakhtyor Soligorsk (1-0 win) from Bealrus. It will therefore be interesting to watch them playing back-to-back against a better opponent than yesterday, even if Stabaek has not been any good so far in their club friendlies.
Stabaek was the biggest surprise in Tippeligaen last season as their coach Bob Bradley took them up to a sensational 3rd place. A lot of things have happened due to their success as their top scorer Adama Diomande (Hull) left midway through last season, but their coach Bob Bradley also disappeared to France and Le Havre.
They have already played six club friendlies in total so far, but has only 1-0-5 to show for and they had gone four straight games without scoring before their last game against Valerenga (1-2), which they also lost. They still have a very young team, but has kept onto important players from last season in Ernest Asante, but also picked up Ohi Omoijuanfo from Jerv. That signing is going to be very good for them as Ohi has a lot of experience from Tippeligaen with Lillestrom, but he also got pace and goal getter qualities that this team will need. Stabaek has also recently agreed a deal with FC Twente for the young attacker Shadrach Eghan who could boost their offensive play.
It will be an interesting game of football with Stabaek heading into their first friendly at Marbella after arriving on Sunday. Their coach has set the focus on scoring more goals and prioritizes that focus through the whole week at the training camp in Spain. Amkar should be a quite tough opponent for them, but I expect goals here as it is Stabaek’s top priority and Amkar will therefore also get space to create chances. An open game with at least three goals will be my pick.
