Ajax vs Roda by Meese
Ajax started their preparations and official matches a bit earlier than the most of Dutch teams, since the team had to play in third qualifying round for Champions League, where they excluded Greek vice-champions from PAOK after a goal in last second leg, but still progressed further and will be playing against Russian side Rostov for a spot in Champions League group stage.
As for the domestic league, they have started with a 3:1 victory away from home against Sparta Rotterdam last weekend, without being that impressive in the first halftime. They did took the lead in fifth minute with a goal from Klaassen, but the hosts equalized just moments later with an own goal. When it was needed, players of Ajax upped the tempo in the second halftime and scored three pointer thanks to goals from Sinkgraven in 54th and Cassierra eleven minutes later, while they stood playing with a man less since 84th, but without getting into trouble.
Target ahead of this game is easy three pointer and morale boost ahead of important Champions League game now. Hosts should be playing in 4-3-3 formation, most likely with Sinkgraven, Dolberg and Ghazi as forwards. Central defender Joel Veltman is the only absentee for the hosts due suspension. Heiko Westermann who signed from Betis could step in for this one.
Roda, on the other side, comes from a 1:1 home draw against Heracles in a season opener, in a game where the players of Roda were predicted as slight favorites. However, visiting side opened up the game in a better way, taking the lead in 33rd minute with a goal from Navratil, while the hosts were able only to level up the result in 72nd minute via Auasser.
It was quite a balanced game and even though the equalizer came in a deserved way for the home team, players of Heracles also had their chances to double up the lead and probably escape with all three points. The team showed some decent performances during friendlies, including victories over Mallorca and Aachen, but also a draw in the last match agaisnt Birmingham, so there's no doubt that they are eager to show that they can do much more than pure staying in the league.
Roda is set to play in their usual 4-2-3-1 formation with Mytidis as number nine, but also with Rosheuvel, Aussar and Boysen as offensive midfielders. Midfielder Jens van Son and forward Dani Schahin are injured, while Marcos Gullon returns from serving one-match ban.
- Ajax have seen over 2.5 goals in 13 of their last 14 matches against Roda.
Hosts Ajax should be able to get a victory here, however I believe it won't be as easy as the odds suggest. At least not when looking at their defensive performance, since the team is miles away from having completely fluid defensive lineup. Roda should be able to score a goal here, even though the victory of the home team shouldn't be very questionable here.
