Adanaspor vs Fenerbahce by Isaiah
Adanaspor looked really strong last season in Turkish 1. Lig, however the team failed to make a surprise and get salvation in the first tier of Turkish football this season. They were one of the weakest links in the league, staying without mathematical chances for salvation weeks ago.
With just one round till the end, the team has six victories, seven draws and twenty defeats, however improving a bit in previous couple of weeks as lack of pressure probably suited them well. In the most recent game, they suffered 2:1 defeat away to Basaksehir, breaking a mini run of three matches without defeat (a victory against Genclerbirligi, draws against Trabzonspor and Kayserispor). Have to be said that they actually had a chance to do even more, since the hosts took the lead in 16th via Madureira, while Ozdemir leveled up in 30th, while their hosts stood playing with a man less since 36th when Madurerira got excluded. Despite having a man more, they failed to be more concrete against way more quality opponent and conceded the second goal in second minute of additional time via Napoleoni.
Hosts will miss Brazilian trio since central defender Didi (23/0) can't help them due yellow cards suspension, while other defender, left back Renan Diniz (20/2) remains sidelined with wrist injury. Midfielder Roni (29/7) is injured too.
This is far away from a positive season from Fenerbahce, as the team failed to get any trophy, but also disappointed in Turkish Super League as they failed to be more competitive and actually to have some influence in the title race overall. They've got also excluded from the Turkish Cup in semifinals to Basaksehir, while the side failed to qualify for Champions League last Summer early in the season.
Moreover, they didn't impress in Europa League either, suffering exclusion in 1/16 round to Russian side Krasnodar. Now, with a game more to be played, they are at third position with some number of points as their rivals from Galatasaray, being in a must win situation in order to keep the position. In the most recent game, they took just a point in front of own fans against Trabzonspor in a 1:1 draw, as Sow brought them into the lead in 23rd minute, while Bero leveled up at the start of the second halftime, while neither of the sides risked a lot towards the end of the game.
Central defender Martin Skrtel (31/2) won't be playing due yellow card suspension, while forward Fernandao (13/4) remains injured for months now. Doubtful are defenders Sener Ozbayrakli and Gregory van der Wiel, both without playing in last couple of matches. Goalkeeper Fabiano (6/0), midfielder Ozan Tufan (21/3) and left winger/forward Aatif Chahechouhe (17/4) are also out with injuries. Neither of these players should be risked in the last season's game.
There's nothing left for Adanaspor but to play for the pride this time out, as well as to try to reach the 17th position and not to be last placed side in the end (having just a point less than Gaziantepspor). Fenerbahce, on the other side, surely wants to end up third ahead of rivals from Galatasaray and are fired up to get a victory. Both teams scoring in the season ending show, but also likely Fenerbahce's victory is looking like so obvious result.
