Aalborg vs Silkeborg by 20Legend
Aalborg is heading towards their third friendly after getting both a win and a lose their previous two games. They got smashed against a far better Norwegian opponent when Rosenborg (4-1) was the opponent. Aalborg had a good first half though with a late goal securing them a 0-1 lead at half time. Rosenborg did some changes into the second half which brought their attacking threat upwards. Both of their strikers, Mushaga Bakenga and Christian Gytkjaer scored two goals each which secured them a solid 4-1 win. Aalborg was a lot stronger when their fellow Danish opponent Nordsjaelland (1-2) was their opponent in the following friendly.
After three days of training since their last game it is time for their last test match before a new season starts. Coach Lars Sondergaard is happy with how his team has done so far and he has stated that this game will be a final test of his team’s physical form. He has brought a large squad to this match because of three days of training as a buildup to this game. That will let him change players that get too tired underway.
Their only absentees are Viktor Ahlmann and Jannick Pohl. The club has brought in some exciting players that will get their first chance to shine at Nordjyske Arena today. Casper Roth (Leeds), defender Markus Holgersson (Anorthosis Famagusta FC) and the offensive midfielder Marko Mellinger (Austria Vienna) that will all be a major enforcement to this team.
Silkeborg has also played three friendlies so far with 2-0-1 as a result and 6:4 on goal difference. Their first two opponents came against teams from Superligaen and Silkeborg showed strong performances here. First of all they beat Horsens (0-1) which was a very strong performance by this club that is newly promoted to Superligaen this season. They also gave Esbjerg (2-1) a real fight, but lost by one goal in the end. Their third match came against 2nd Division Kjellerup (2-4) and their coach Peter Sorensen was impressed by the fight that the club put up against his own team.
Silkeborg played a bad first half, but did get the only goal right before halftime. The second half brought a lot more energy to both teams, but it was not any doubt on which team that was the best. Silkeborg created several chances apart from the goals, while Kjellerup did their best in order to stay in the game. Coach Sorensen was not impressed with the handling of the ball that his team put up towards the end of the game. It looked like their concentration dropped as their passing were constantly without accuracy as the clock came closer towards showing 90 minutes.
All in all it is the last friendly for both teams and it will be interesting to see how the favorites from Aalborg will manage against Silkeborg who will try to continue their positive experiences. It is free entrance to the stadium today which could bring some extra fans to the stadium. I expect a game where Aalborg tries to take control, but with Silkeborg getting their chances as well with their fearless attitude. Both teams will chase a good outcome before the real competition starts later this month and four goals should be possible here.
