Deportivo La Coruna vs Malaga (By: Pikachu)
First match of the Segunda Division semi-final play offs will be played at Estadio Municipal de Riazor in La Coruña where Deportivo will host Malaga in fight for promotion to Spanish highest football league La Liga.
We all know for Deportivo and their success in 90's and 00's when they played high quality football and won few competitions like Supercopa de Espana, Copa Del Rey and even reached highest rounds of UCL (twice quarter finals and once semi-finals). Though they were a high-class team once, they got in lower positions of La Liga in 2010's and eventually relegated in Segunda Division 3 times in last 7 years. Deportivo somehow managed not to lose either of their last 3 league matches (2 wins and 1 draw) and took the last place for chance to play in La Liga again. Deportivo had everything in their hands in the last league match at home, against relegated Cordoba and won 2-0.
On the other side is Malaga, also very known team all over the world. They got their fame in 00's when they played in La Liga, Malaga played in Segunda two consecutive seasons (06/07 and 07/08) but after that, the team played next 10 years in Spanish highest league and even reached their best La Liga performance in team's history finishing as 4th team on table in 11/12 season. Malaga reached the top of their potential in last 5 league games, winning all of them and gaining maximum 15/15 points which gave them 74 points and 3rd place.
Hosts are missing midfielders Krohn-Dehli (14/0) and Silva (4/0) while first goalkeeper Gimenez (41/0), defender Boveda (20/0) and top scorer Quique (36/16) all remain doubtful with Quique probably in.
Guests can't count on defenders Cifuentes (24/2), Lomban (10/0) and Juankar (6/1), midfielders N'Diaye (34/5) and Alejo (12/1), attackers Harper (25/4), Pacheco (22/1) and Seleznyov (12/0) while their first goalkeeper Munir (36/0) is also questionable for this match.
This is the first match of semi-finals and Deportivo can't miss this chance not to win at their ground, stadium will be full till the last place I believe and they will have good attendance and motivation in front of 34,000 people. Malaga played really good and they have quality to win but they miss few important players and after all, this is the first match and they know how good they are on home field.
