Botafogo vs Vasco da Gama (By: Enzo)

Botafogo RJ was very willing to fight and had great determination at home against Palmeiras, but still suffered narrow 0:1 loss from a penalty kick in the 62nd minute.

Overall, it was quite a defensive game with the hosts having much more of the ball possession and the game itself could have ended way differently on some other day.

The team is now two points below the Copa Libertadores tickets. They have however improved morale with a 4:0 victory Thursday night when the team won over Paraguayan Sol de America 4:0 to progress into the last sixteen round.

Vasco comes from a point taken on the road to Fortaleza last weekend, but must be said that the team was rather lucky to reach the leading goal from a penalty spot in the 71st minute via Pikachu.

It was overall a game where they didn't show much and were only threatening via counter-attacks. The side remains at the rock bottom position for now with three draw matches and three defeats. This was their first point on the road with two goals scored and eight conceded till now.

The hosts will miss injured offensive Pimpao (5/0). The visiting team is set to miss suspended defensive midfielder Raul (4/0) with a few being long-term absentees too.

Vasco is rather limited in quality and it was obvious in the previous season too. They are able to pull out a point away from home here and there, but I expect them to be once again one of the poorest travelers in Serie A.

There's definitely some individual class difference in favor of Botafogo RJ. After all, they are at least a strong mid-table team, while Vasco should be having another difficult season to avoid the relegation.
