Watford vs Southampton (By: Nogawa)
Tonight's game between Watford and Southampton will be important for both teams. Southampton fight to survive relegation and are currently in a favourable position compared to Cardiff, both in terms of current points but also for the upcoming fixtures. Southampton would most likely survive relegation even if they lose today, but they will fight for the points for sure. Watford fight for Europa League qualification as they are level with Everton but with a game in hand. Watford has been great at home recently despite their loss to Arsenal a week ago. Watford win seems likely, but Southampton has impressed with brilliant performances against Tottenham and Wolverhampton and they also put in a good shift against Liverpool where they showed plenty of quality.
Instead of predicting the final result, I will look at the underlying stats between the two teams: When the two teams have met at Vicarage Road goals have been flowing. 9 out of the last 10 have all been over 2.5 goals, and I suspect tonight won't be different. The reason why Watford is having an amazing season is mostly because of their attack and that they have so many players capable of scoring, but sometimes their defence is lacking. Watford has not kept a clean sheet since their FA Cup win against QPR which was 10 games ago. Southampton possesses plenty of attacking potential themselves with players such as Ings, Redmond, Ward-Prowse, Long, Armstrong and Lemina (who came back from injury and looked sharp last week against Newcastle). Watford will miss Deeney due to suspension, but Andre Gray, Deulofeu, Doucoure, Foster, Femenia, and Hughes all represent a really strong squad.
It will be an open game with both teams playing attractive, attacking football and so my bet is Both Teams to Score and over 2.5 at odds 2.05
