Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid (By: Lovecat)

Barcelona has eight points of advantage over their today's opponents that are ranked second and is very likely to win the title this year. In the last few rounds Barcelona will play against Huesca, Sociedad, Alaves, Levante, Celta Vigo, Getafe and Eibar. Two of the teams in the relegation area, Celta Vigo is struggling to reach 17th place while Huesca is on their way back to Segunda because they are at the very bottom of the table and seven points behind Villareal. The chances are very small that Barcelona will drop this big advantage over such opponents and it is really unrealistic to expect any different outcome no matter what is going to happen in today's match, even if Barcelona gets zero points and they lose to Atletico Madrid I still think the title of the champion certainly remains at Camp Nou. This season Atletico Madrid scored 20 goals in 15 away games, which is very weak for a top three team. Only for comparison, some of the weaker teams such as Sevilla, Levante, Celta Vigo, Sociedad were able to score more or nearly as many goals in the away games.

Barcelona will miss Arturo Vidal today because of yellow cards suspension while Dembele and Rafinha are injured. After their last match where they received four goals against Villarreal, I think today Barcelona will insist on a much stronger defense and will focus on limiting Atletico Madrid's attacking options. The first match of the season between Atletico and Barcelona ended 1:1 and they have also played 4 draws in the last 7 matches.

I think it will be difficult to reach the goal at Camp Nou for Simeone's side. Barcelona is not in the interest of turning this into a full-fledged attacking match and their ultimate goal is to control the possession of the ball and play much better defense than in their last outing with Villareal. Next Wednesday they play in England against Manchester United in the Champions League and I do not expect them to play their usual attacking style.

Probable Lineup (4-3-3): ter Stegen; Semedo, Pique, Lenglet, Alba; Rakitic, Busquets, Arthur; Messi, Suarez, Coutinho

Probable Lineup (4-4-2): Oblak; Arias, Gimenez, Godin, Luis; Saul, Rodri, Partey, Koke; Griezmann, Correa

Barcelona will be quite satisfied with one point from today's match, GL to everyone.
