Valencia vs Bilbao (By: Saconex)

Spain La Liga

Valencia (10) vs Athletic Bilbao (11)

Valencia are standing with 6-15-4 and 25-21 in goal difference. They are coming from 4 straight draws in the league but managed to win 1-0 vs Real Betis in the second leg Semi Final of Copa Del Rey last time out. This is obviously a weird season overall for Valencia, but they are the second lowest conceding team of La Liga and they are very hard to break down. But 6 victories in 25 matches says it all, they got big problems in being clinical in front of goal. Garay reported injured.

Athletic have turned things around after their terrible start of this season. Total record is 7-12-6 with 25-28 in goal difference. They are in other words the second most drawing team of the league, after Valencia. Two straight 1-0 victories vs Huesca (20) & Eibar (9) is good and they probably feels they can grab a point or maybe three tonight. Ander Capa reported injured. Also Aduriz reported doubtful. Obviously not good news for the guests if they miss him tonight.

* The reverse fixture ended 0-0 back in October

* 5 of last 6 Valencia matches ended with No BTTS

* 4 of last 6 Athletic matches ended with No BTTS

Bookies are expecting this one to be tight and with few goals. I understand why that is being considered to be most realistic, taking in mind both teams and how they struggle to put their opponents under pressure and being clinical in attack. At the same time, both teams are very hard to break down and I dont think chances are good for this one to end with goals both ways. Expecting this to be tight without BTTS.
