WS Wanderers vs Melbourne Victory (By: Dajkula)
Western Sydney Wanderers welcome Melbourne Victory in round 11 of the A league. The hosts are the 8`th team of the league with 9 points and 2-3-5 till now. It is far from a satisfactory position for any of the home side fans. The team just missed the play-off battle last season and the new coach put in charge was Marcus Babbel. And the supporters don`t care much about his work. Some groups protested loudly against the management in the last match and were removed from the stadium. Let's say that not much is going right for Wanderers and Babbel may be a big reason. He started his coaching career in Stuttgart and Hertha, went to Luzern and is now in Western Sydney. For such a young coach his carer is really going downhill. Probably he just doesn`t have what it takes. Wanderers have just 1-1-3 at home and they lost 4 of the last 6 matches. The last 0:2 home loss to Melbourne City was just another punch to the gut.
Melbourne Victory is ranked third with 20 points and 6-2-2 so far. They are also the reigning champions but haven`t started the season all that brightly. They lost the first two matches but then started a great run. The acquisition of star players like Honda and Toivonen did its part and the players became instrumental. Victory won 6 matches in a row and it propelled them to first place. The last two, however, were drawn and it came with the injury to the first scorer and key player Honda. He will be out for another couple of weeks and it remains to be seen if Victory can do without him. Such a big team definitely shouldn`t be concentrated on one player. Victory still have players that can score and their attack is ranked second in the league.
The situation in the home team is dire while Victory has slowed down a bit. The clash has one prominent side however and Victory has a good hold on Wanderers. Victory has lost once in 15 matches and has won 6 of the last 8 with 2 draws. Honda is a big miss but Victory has good chances to take this.
