Yaquis de Obregon vs Tomateros (By: Mulder)
Francisco Rodríguez is starting for Obregon, the new Yaqui plucks the Águilas according to their FB.
He pitched one outing for Culiacan. In 5.0 innings at work a 1.80 ERA ( one earned run ) against Mexicali. However, a high balls in play percentage and his stuff was not that good with 3 BB and 2 SO.
He pitched a lot in 2018, with Tabasco in the first and the second league, but both on AAA level.
For Mex1: In 48.1 innings> 1-4: 5.77 ERA> 1.72 WHIP> 4.1 BB/9, 4.1 K/9
For Mex2: In 60.2 innings> 4-4: 3.71 ERA> 1.42 WHIP> 5.2 BB/9, 5.5 K/9
For the Tomateros we have Edgar González on the mound. The Rightie who came from the Diamondbacks farm has a lot of experience in the MLB< in 10 seasons a 5.92 ERA, 1.56 WHIP.
For Culiacan he is 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA> 1.77 WHIP. However, he deserves better with the stuff he has> 2.8 BB/9, 6.4 K/9. Also, not very big sample size of 22.2 innings pitched.
He pitched a lot in 2018 though.
With Monterrey Mex2 (AAA level ) he went 7-2 with a 2.83 ERA> 0.94 WHIP> 1.3 BB/9.
Moreover, Gonzalez os coming from a decent win against Charros De Jalisco as he 2 earned runs in 5.1 innings pitched. His stuff was big with 1BB and 6 K so he deserved even better that outing.
Culiacan has the better bulllpen. Also offensively wise they have plenty of talent with Miller ( Seattle Mariners draft ), Pena ( Giants ), Wilkins ( Twins ), Mustelier ( Atlanta ), Cruz ( yankees ) to name a few.
This might be closer than the odds suggest and hence solid value on the Tomateros as a road dog for plus money.
