Rio Ave vs Sporting Lisbon
Rio Ave couldn't do more in a 2:1 defeat away to Aves, simply since they had to play with a man less already since the fourteenth minute. Their hosts exploited such situation well, taking the double lead soon. Guests tried decently in second and deserved the reducement towards the end. The side remained fifth, but now with four points less than fourth-placed Sporting.
Sporting had many problems overcoming Chaves, but the Lions finally managed it in the last phase even though they were playing with a man more in the last twenty minutes in a 2:1 win. The side was playing quite ugly football recently and a new coach came Keizer, previously working in Al Jazira. Last Thursday, the side responded well in a 1:6 victory away to Qarabag in Europa League.
Hosts continue to miss central back Monte (2/0) and a couple of those who didn't play till now anyway, while defender Nadjack (7/0) remains suspended now. Visiting side continues to miss right back Ristovski (7/0), midfielder Battaglia (8/0) and offensive Raphinha (6/0), while forward Montero (8/2) remains doubtful.
Rio Ave failed in previous couple of matches and will be looking to bounce back here. Sporting remains a favorite, but with bit less reliable defenders and a very tough opponent, I see both teams scoring here at least once, in overall quite an open game.
