Bristol City vs Millwall (By: Shibby)
Championship action for me today in a game that will kick off at 13:30 UK time. The game will be played at Ashton Gate, Bristol and will see Bristol City welcome 2nd bottom club Millwall. The home side head into the game feeling pretty disappointed in how they're season has gone so far, many Bristol fans would have expected a better start to the season. The good thing is, Bristol City are still not a million miles away from the play off places. A win here today could see them sneak to within just 6 points off a play off spot. With a huge amount of games between now and the New year I think they will see this as a positive.
Bristol City lie in 14th in the table with their opponents in 23rd fighting for their lives. What stands out to me is Bristol City's home form, if the table was based on home games only they would be in 21st with 9 games played, 3 wins, 2 draws and 4 defeats. Also, they have managed to score 9 goals and conceded 9 goals at home. I expect this trend to continue. Now I know Bristol have a poor home form, if you take a look at Millwall's away form they are actually the worst performing team away from home. They have managed just 2 draws from 9 away games, losing the other 7. They've scored just 7 goals away from the Den and conceded 18 already (average of 2 per game).
Bristol City head into this clash on the back of a 3-2 win away at bottom club Ipswich. The great thing about this game was the fact that Bristol City were away from home, they went behind twice to 2 Freddie Sears goals and they still managed to snatch all 3 points. From a confidence point of view this will have given the entire club a huge boost and it's now how they push on from this win. A home game vs 2nd bottom club will have the Bristol City fans in high spirits.
Manager Lee Johnson in my opinion is one of the better managers in this league. He has a great squad to choose from and I would expect Josh Brownhill to play a part with him being back from suspension. Also, skipper Wright could be back too which would be a huge boost for the club.
The away side have struggled this season as many expected the would. Last season they finished the season very well, the problem is their best players were all sold and haven't been replaced with enough quality in my opinion. As I mentioned further up in my post, Millwall don't travel too well and I expect this to continue today. It's not an easy place to go and manager Neil harris will have his work cut out this afternoon without Leonard as he was shown a red card at Birmingham. Also, their best striker Lee Gregory is a doubt too :(
With all this in mind I fancy a Bristol City win and with odds of 2.05 with Bet365 this offer huge value in my opinion. I don't think it will be easy but I expect a 1-0 or 2-0 victory. Good luck all.
