Ayr vs Queen of South

Top of the table Ayr United continue to be underestimated by the bookies and having successfully backed them in their last two fixtures I see no reason to miss out this weekend.

Ayr have won 12 of their last 13 home league matches (the only one they failed to win was after they had already won promotion last season) and they have scored over 1.5 goals in each of those 12 wins. There is absolutely a case for backing Ayr to win the game, also at odds of 1.80, but I prefer to back them in the goals market as the bet could win even if Queen of the South put in a great performance and snatch a point.

I actually planned to bet on Ayr to win the league before the season started (but, annoyingly, talked myself out of it) as they were available at seriously big odds and were obviously underestimated by the bookmakers. Despite their fantastic start to the season, big prices like the one featured here are regularly available and until that changes I will continue to back them.

As previously stated, Ayr have scored at least twice in each of their last 12 home wins - they have almost very close to 3 goals per game in their last 13 home matches. Even including away fixtures Ayr are averaging 2 goals per game in the league this season.

Admittedly Queen of the South will likely prove tougher opposition than either Falkirk or Alloa did but, nevertheless, it is unlikely they will be able to stop an Ayr team in rampant form. QotS lost 2-0 away against Dundee United at the weekend and in their previous match conceded 2 goals to Greenock Morton, both sides which Ayr have beaten this season (indeed, both sides against which Ayr scored over 1.5 goals).

If I could suggest a stake of 11 here I would....
