Benfica vs Moreirense
Benfica host Moreirense in the 9th round of Portugal Primeira Liga at Estadio de Luz.
Benfica are sitting in the 3rd place of the table, but just one point behind the 1st and 2nd placed teams of Porto and Braga. They gave up the leading position after the last round failure as visitors of Belenenses. Benfica controlled the beginning of the match, earned a penalty in the second part of the 1st half, but Eduardo Salvio missed it. That was the moment, when something completely messed up in visitor's performance and until the end of the half, they not only conceded a penalty scored by Eduardo, but also had to come back from being two goals down after another Belenenses goal scored by Keita. Benfica deserved to pull back at least one goal in the 2nd half, but with a lot of effort and little bit luck, the hosts took very sweet home win against the best team in Portugal in the recent seasons and I am sure Benfica will want to take a revenge in the next round. A new mistake, especially at home against such a weak visitors like Moreirense is very unlikely to happen.
Moreirense are in the 2nd part of the table and their main purpose is still to avoid the last two relegation places. I doubt they will finish in one of them, because they are a team, which absolutely relies on their home team performances and usually takes point/s against middle classed or even weaker and than them opponents at home. As visitors the situation is totally different and they often lose against teams from their class, what to expect against the very best like Porto, Sporting or Benfica. As visitors, Moreirense started with a victory against Madeira in the very beginning of the season(1:2), but Nacional Madeira are in the relegation zone, so that win was not so strange. In the next three visits, they earned three losses with 3:0 against Porto, 2:0 against Tondela and 3:0 against Setubal. In all of them they not only missed to score a goal, but they were losing at halftime with a goal or even more.
When we add H2H between these two clubs which have a lot of recent matches, the situation is pretty clearly- Benfica are absolutely ruling their opponent in the domestic league matches winning all of them and also the last four without a conceded goal(to nill). So, Benfica have little problems with injured players like Ebuehi(d), Lema(d), Krovinovic(m) and Seferovic(f), but still have a team full of power, especially in the midfield line and in the attack. Visitors have much bigger problem and that's the missing of their main midfielder from the start of the season Heriberto Tavares. He score two goals from the start of the season, but is on loan from Benfica and is ineligible to play against his former club. Without him in the starting line-up, it is going to be much easier for Benfica's midfield to control the game and create chances from the start of the match.
Benfica will enter this game very motivated for sure. Their CL match against Ajax is on Wednesday, so they can use even their best players in this game or to rotate just one or two players, because they will have 5 days to rest after this game. A team with champions ambitions and great stats especially at home against an opponent, very weak as visitors and also with very weak defensive line, I just can't miss to play this game. -1.5 AH for the hosts is too low as odds, while -2/-2.5AH looks a little insecure after Benfica failed to score in their last two away games. That's the reason to play Benfica to have the lead at HT and of course after the end of the match. Moreirense played against typical team like Benfica away from home(Porto) and lost it 3:0, being down 2:0 at HT, so I expect almost the same outcome here.
Benfica to win at HT/FT. Good luck!
