Niort vs Lens (By: Alcuni)
Niort – Lens
Niort is one of the pleasant surprises of this start of the season. With a lot of quality players left the team before the start of the season, Niort still collected a lot of points, 13 points and is for the moment up in the table. Good results for them but is we take a close look to their opponent we will see they didn’t meet yet top teams. Last round they travelled at Troyes, meeting a team in deep crisis and despite dominating the game and playing in 10 men for almost one half they lost 0-2 conceding early in the game and also in the dying minutes. As mentioned they will have some tough schedule in the next rounds and we will see after this what is the real value of transformed Niort. Some problems for this game as Bena is suspended, Rivieyran and Fontani joined to the injured players list; as a good news Djigla was recovered and is in the squad for this game.
Compared with previous seasons, Lens started excellent the season having so far 5 wins and 1 defeat ( vs leader Metz on the road) plus one game in hand on the road vs newly promoted Beziers. Despite losing some creative players (Fortune and Ephestion, who must mentioned they are playing quite well at their new teams) they discovered Bayala who is making a great season so far, creating a lot of chances for his colleagues. Don’t think must mention they are an offensive minded team 10 goals but also a very tough nut to crack only Metz having the chance to score in Leca GK, in rest 5 wins at nil! Impressive. No new injured players for Lens.
Kind of derby of the round keeping in mind both are in the upper part of the table. Expected to see Lens with a low odds for a win here at Niort but bookies are also impressed by the Niort results. Still I think Lens have the edge here and a win for them is pure value. Back Lens to take 3 points and to reduce the gap between them and Metz (who lost their first game couple of days before at Paris FC). gl
