Seattle Storm vs Phoenix Mercury (By: FairPlayBet)

WNBA playoffs, semifinals, Game 5

Seattle Storm against Phoenix Mercury. So, the series is tied on 2 wins each and this is the crucial 5th match. Game that will give the finalist.

I have strong opinion it would be Seattle. I mean this team was the best in the regular season. Not just the best but by far best with 26-8 overall record and 13-4 here at home. Phoenix was second best in the conference with with even six wins less, 20-14 and 11-6 on the road.

Basically, except Seattle who was by far best and Vegas who was by far the last placed in the conference, all other teams were pretty tied and all in range of few wins difference. I am talking about Western conference although Seattle was by far the best also overall in the WNBA.

In the so far 4 games of this semifinal, every time the team who was the host also won the game.

Game 1 and Game 2 in Seattle ended both times with identical score, 91:87 & 91:87 OT while Game 3 and Game 4 in Phoenix ended with 86:66 & 86:84.

Seattle really should be already in the finals. Namely the last time they wasted big double digits advantage on the road. It was almost +20 in their favor in Game 4 but somehow Phoenix managed to push this series back to Seattle.

In Game 4 Seattle early remained without point guard Sue Bird who left the game due to broken nose. She is expected to play today, most likely with a face mask.

BTW, in the regular season it was 2-1 in favor of Seattle. The only game back then played in Seattle has won Phoenix. But that was very first game of the season, long back to May. So, not much important for the current situation. Seattle has won the other two (27 pts advantage combined), both on the road including the last only month ago.

Close game expected here.

Amazing job by Phoenix Mercury, to tie the series, after being down to-nothing. I like the over here actually, like in the first game, which Seattle Storm won easily. Both should score rather easy. Seattle Storm in the paint, and Phoenix Mercury, from outside.
