LASK Linz vs Rapid Vienna
LASK Linz host Rapid Vienna in the 4th round of the Austrian Bundesliga.
Well, these two clubs played in EL qualifications on Thursday, but had different fortunes. LASK Linz were so close to eliminate Besiktas from the tournament after they lost in Turkey 1:0, but in Austria they were leading 2:0 before a late away goal in the 91th minute by Alvaro Negredo which qualified Besiktas to the next round. If I have to be honest, players of Besiktas underestimated the Austrians a lot and deserved to be out of EL with such a display in Austria, but nevermind. Linz is out of Europe competitions for this season and they have to concentrate on the domestic league, but the bad feeling of the missed opportunity is still in players heads, I am sure about that.
Rapid Vienna had the opposite fortune and after 2:1 loss in Bratislava by Slovan, they bounced back with a trashing 4:0 victory in Vienna, which means they will play in the last qualification round in EL before the groups and their opponent is Steaua. It wasn't the easiest draw for sure, but that also relies to the Romanians. Steaua were close of being eliminated by Hajduk in the previous round, but with a late goal in the extra time of the 2nd half continued in EL. So, Rapid confidence is expected to be pretty high right now and when the both teams(Rapid and LASK) are next to each other in the table- 5th and 6th, I expect both teams to play for the max points and to have a winner in this match. The main problem is that LASK performed very good at home till the start of the season, but when they have to face the best in Austria, usually failed the test. Infact Rapid is maybe the toughest opponent for them, because in the last two years they have 5 matches and all of them were won by Rapid Vienna including two away wins with 1:2 and 0:2.
Hosts will miss for this match Bumberger(DF) and Oh(MF), while the visitors will be without Gartler(GK), Dibon(DF), Hofmann(DF), Mocinic(MF), Szanto(MF) and Pavlovic(FW). Only Hofmann can be relied to the important missings for both teams. So, maybe both teams will make a few more rotations after EL matches, that's the reason line-ups are not very clear at this time.
As I said, I expect a winner in this match, the chances for a draw for me are very minimal. When I compare both teams, their current form and mostly MOOD after EL matches I give advantage to Rapid for the max points here. In comparison with Besiktas, Rapid know perfectly well LASK Linz and what they can expect from the opponent. BTTS+over 2.5 goals is also a good option here for me, but I will just go with the visitors.
