Cockhill Celtic vs Limerick

Cockhill Celtic vs. Limerick

The FAI Cup comes to an end today with what is likely to be the last of the mis-matches for this season as all the countries top sides have swept aside non-League of Ireland sides pretty easily. We've seen scores of 12-2, 7-0, 5-0, 4-1 which proves the League of Ireland is firmly the top league in Ireland.

This match-up probably isn't going to be a thrashing, Cockhill Celtic have won the Ulster Senior League for the last 5 seasons and in previous cup games against LoI sides they have at least competed but always lost in recent seasons come the end of 90 minutes.

There is a rumour that Cockhill Celtic's captain, James Bradley, has claimed they are missing a number of players this afternoon including their 2 main strikers. They are also still in pre-season so may lack the sharpness of a Limerick side who are in the 2nd half of theirs.

Limerick are a Premier Division side, albeit 2nd from bottom. Still, they should be at least 1 level above and as there is no league game until next weekend they can field a strongish side. In the league they need wins and a comfortable win here can only boost their confidence. A poor performance is unlikely to help their cause in the slightest.
