Man. United vs Leicester

The first game of the season for the EPL in what is probably the worst possible matchup for a season opener.

United failed to impress during the pre-season with just 1 win in 6 friendlies, 2-1 over Real Madrid in a match that United had less than 30% of ball possession (For f...s sake we are talking about a friendly match!) and just desperately tried to protect that fortunate early lead (2-0 in the first 20 minutes), it was a rather embarrassing win after all.

Appart from that game, United, in general, lacked creativity and ideas in their offense, with Mourinho showing no intention of taking risks or trying something different other than his typical 'let them have the ball, we are safer that way'. Simply, there was nothing to like about this team and although it's not safe to draw conclusions from friendlies/ pre-season, unfortunately, Mourinho's 3rd season curse is as close as ever.

United will miss DM Matic, RB/W Valencia, RB Dalot, CD Rojo, ST Lukaku, GK Romero, CB Bailly, CM Herrera, while W.C. participants Jones, Young, Pogba, Fellaini, Lingard are doubtful and we will know if they will be available a few hours before kick off.

Leicester did not impress in the pre-season as well, with just 2 wins in 5 games. They had some trouble with their defensive efficiency as they managed to keep just one clean sheet (against Akhisar, 0-0), but they missed key players for their defense. On the other hand, the good news for them is that their second most expensive signing, Iheanacho, seems to be adapting finally and is in great shape as he scored at least a goal in all 3 games he played so far (one as a sub).

It's certain (among other doubtful players) that Leicester will miss key players CD Maguire, ST Vardy as well as AM Maddison, and CM M.James.

If United fails to win this game, its because all their rivals spend money and signed key players, according to this clown of a coach, so don't be surprised guys! Or maybe, this clown will find another excuse, who knows anymore???

Anyway, this is a tough game and both teams will miss many important players in defense, which will make them even more careful, but also in offense. Mourinho knows that if they concede a goal, it will be extremely tough to turn things around and starting the season (his third season) with a bad result at home is definitely not something he is looking for. A tight approach is expected by both teams, with most of the ball possession spend in the midfield and not many goal-scoring chances and even if there will be an early goal, can't see any of those teams taking extra risks early, so, since the odds are much higher than expected, I think we get some value with the under 2,5 goals here.

The truth is Mourinho does not have ideas in present day football. Man united hardly plays intersting football anymore. The analyses is spot on, sentiments aside. I would not be surprised if his boys play badly just to spite him.Mourinho will not last the end of the season IMO. please dont bite me.

Redrooster ,

fully agree and support this view of Yours.
I would very glad seeing as Murinho as Woodward backs on the way from Old Trafford for good.

X2 seems the clear outcome of this contest to me, as too under 2.5 is a banker. Utd lacks goals in them. Leicester will frustrate, contain, and limit them to scoring chances. But the preview is oky. Thanks

Completely agree with all of you guys!
I just hate Mourinho a bit more because I have lost interest in watching my favorite team play anymore. And I know United players are sick of him too!

I am a United fan but I am not sick of him and it is appalling to think United fans would say something like that. We clearly need better options from the back and he has been clamouring for that. We are also very short on right wingers as our current lot are ineffective in that regards. MAybe you all have short memories but we were shit after fergie and we are only beginning to look like a threat again after Mourinho showed up.

But to get close to the level we once were, we need quality signings and not Jones and Smalling as central defenders. Which manager would make us better than we currently are? And please don't say Zidane.

Under 2.5 seems logical but please don't hate on MOurinho.
He didn't tell Pogba to play like shit and Martial to sulk like a little girl.
They are getting paid to play their hearts for United and no player is bigger than a club, not more Manchester United.

I think the defense is fine. better wingers? so that he has more creative players to force them to defend and park the bus? He still can't find a role to utilize Sanchez.
Seems like everyone has a short memory when it comes to Mourinho...He is the same guy that sent kicked out DeBruine and Salah, just to name a few... and now they are the top players in their positions in EPL LMFAO.
The board just doesn't trust him and i guess it is the reason why they did not want to spend more money. He paid 100M for Pogba, then he said that he would make a great center back, then forced him to play deeper in midfield and be more defensive minded and because he did not (because he can't, it's not part of his game) he just benched him against Sevilla to give people another laughter.
Mourinho plays destructive football, players don't like him/ that and that's why so many guys have turned down offers... everybody wanted to play for United even with Moyes and Van Gaal but NOBODY wants to be a part of this team anymore!
He is just not a good fit for big clubs, that are always the favorites and intend to play dominant, attacking football, he has a whole other philosophy!
As for other managers, I would say Wenger every single day. Pogba and Martial would be world stars under his guidance

Wenger lol! YEs they will be world class and rack up amazing stats but we will end up being mediocre and finish 4th every season before Madrid and Barca come calling for them and we start rebuilding again.

Mourinho is just everything we need right now and the board are crazy if they cannot see that.

ha ha ha. I think he was great, kept Arsenal in top level for soooo long while losing most of his stars year after year. Such a joy to watch!
its OK, we agree to disagree, I just have the worst opinion of him and won't change.
