Man. United vs Leicester (By: Demogorgon)
The first game of the season for the EPL in what is probably the worst possible matchup for a season opener.
United failed to impress during the pre-season with just 1 win in 6 friendlies, 2-1 over Real Madrid in a match that United had less than 30% of ball possession (For f...s sake we are talking about a friendly match!) and just desperately tried to protect that fortunate early lead (2-0 in the first 20 minutes), it was a rather embarrassing win after all.
Appart from that game, United, in general, lacked creativity and ideas in their offense, with Mourinho showing no intention of taking risks or trying something different other than his typical 'let them have the ball, we are safer that way'. Simply, there was nothing to like about this team and although it's not safe to draw conclusions from friendlies/ pre-season, unfortunately, Mourinho's 3rd season curse is as close as ever.
United will miss DM Matic, RB/W Valencia, RB Dalot, CD Rojo, ST Lukaku, GK Romero, CB Bailly, CM Herrera, while W.C. participants Jones, Young, Pogba, Fellaini, Lingard are doubtful and we will know if they will be available a few hours before kick off.
Leicester did not impress in the pre-season as well, with just 2 wins in 5 games. They had some trouble with their defensive efficiency as they managed to keep just one clean sheet (against Akhisar, 0-0), but they missed key players for their defense. On the other hand, the good news for them is that their second most expensive signing, Iheanacho, seems to be adapting finally and is in great shape as he scored at least a goal in all 3 games he played so far (one as a sub).
It's certain (among other doubtful players) that Leicester will miss key players CD Maguire, ST Vardy as well as AM Maddison, and CM M.James.
If United fails to win this game, its because all their rivals spend money and signed key players, according to this clown of a coach, so don't be surprised guys! Or maybe, this clown will find another excuse, who knows anymore???
Anyway, this is a tough game and both teams will miss many important players in defense, which will make them even more careful, but also in offense. Mourinho knows that if they concede a goal, it will be extremely tough to turn things around and starting the season (his third season) with a bad result at home is definitely not something he is looking for. A tight approach is expected by both teams, with most of the ball possession spend in the midfield and not many goal-scoring chances and even if there will be an early goal, can't see any of those teams taking extra risks early, so, since the odds are much higher than expected, I think we get some value with the under 2,5 goals here.
