Spartans vs Kilmarnock (By: TFB)

The Scottish League Cup returns as Edinburgh side Spartans welcome Kilmarnock.

Spartans are a non-league Scottish side so have no real expectations here. They are only in this comp because they won the Lowland League last season. They have, however, performed a little better than expected with 2 draws coming against 2 of the better sides in this group Dumbarton and St Mirren.

The St Mirren draw was an excellent result as this was on St Mirren's home turf. St Mirren did dominate though and had something like 30 shots at goal but could only find the net twice.

Their match against Kilmarnock will be just as tough, if not tougher, and Kilmarnock need to win really if they are to win the group that Dumbarton currently top.

Kilmarnock looked much better in their 4-2 away win over Dumbarton with Kris Boyd returning with a hat-trick. He could well play and will be looking to add to his tally against the non-league side.

Kilmarnock should win by a couple at least.

Second tip from you betting on big loss to Spartans despite the fact that they lost two on pens and on by just one goal?
Do you even know if any teams think highly on this tournament groupstage and don't just rest all their best players?
The fact that they're a non-league side obviously don't seem to make them get beaten by several goals every time?

There is a big gap in quality between the Scottish Premiership and the Lowland League. Just look at other results so far when Premiership sides have played League Two sides for instance. Cup games are important to all teams in Scotland, purely because of the money. This is just my view though, i understand not everyone will agree.
