Derry City vs Limerick
Derry City are back at the Brandywell and welcome 2nd bottom side Limerick to Northern Ireland or round 25 of the Irish Premier division season.
Derry started the season well and were really strong at home but they have recently lost their way losing 7 of their last 9 league games. They have lost 3 of their last 4 home games but 2 of those were against the league leaders Dundalk. They are not comparable with playing Limerick though, a side who are facing potential relegation and a financial crisis.
Limerick did secure a win in their first game after the 2 week break but that was a home match against bottom side Bray. Since this game their troubles have worsened slightly with another regular player leaving the club.
First choice goalkeeper Brendan Clarke (24apps) has left the club over a wage dispute. He is the fifth Limerick player to leave the club for this reason as last week Conor Clifford (11apps), Mark O’Sullivan (14apps), Henry Cameron (2apps) and Daniel Kearns (13apps left the club for good. 17-year-old defender Tomás O’Connor has been promoted to the first-team squad for Friday due to lack of options with defensive duo Shaun Kelly (19apps) and Jason Cross being unavailable. Centre-half Eoin Wearen (17apps) is doubtful, along with forward pair Will Fitzgerald (23apps) and Colm Walsh-O’Loghlen (8apps).
Lots of problems for Limerick could lead to Derry getting back to winning ways on home soil.
