Burton vs Derby
In this East Midlands derby we have two sides at the opposite ends of the table going head-to-head at the Pirelli Stadium.
Although not yet mathematically, Burton will be relegated either this week or next most likely. The ground they have to make up on the teams above them is just too much with games running out fast. With only 2 wins in 2018, this is the form that has put them in the position they are in now. A recent 1-1 home draw against Middlesbrough gave the Brewers some hope but that soon disappeared when they were hammered 5-0 by Hull City last week.
Their boss, Nigel Clough, confirmed earlier this week that the home side would be struggling to name a full 18-man-squad, with Academy prospect Reece Hutchinson likely brought in to sit on the bench.
Top scorer Lloyd Dyer, John Brayford, Tom Flanagan and Jacob Davenport are all doubts, while Darren Bent is ineligible to feature against his parent club. All of these players are regular starters for Burton.
Derby have had a poor 2018 too and what was looking like a challenge for automatic promotion has since dwindled to a play-off scrap with numerous other clubs. The performance levels have risen slightly of late, however, with 2 consecutive wins over Preston and Bolton before a loos to soon to be league champions Wolves.
Bradley Johnson, Ikechi Anya and Marcus Olsson are missing but top scorer Vydra has been passed fit in what should be a fairly strong Derby County side.
Looking at the Rams remaining fixtures, if they want to make the play-offs this game is a must win.
