Nigeria vs Serbia (By: FairPlayBet)

Friendly game between Nigeria and Serbia, London, England

By initial odds this was set as 50:50 match, now odds dropping a little bit on Serbian victory. But, I don't exactly agree with such line movement. If I would need to choose here something connected with game winner, I would rather go with Nigeria DNB than with Serbia DNB.

But, I have better option from that. IMO both to score is quite decent bet for this match.

Serbia was far from impressive in previous game the other day. In Torino, Italy, they met with Morocco and suffered 2:1 loss.

And of course, right away media in Serbia, fans... everyone jumped on them, on the team, on players, on head coach Mladen Krstajic. Like that defeat was disaster. But that's how things working in Serbia. I mean after couple straight missed big competitions, Serbia qualified for Russia 2018. And everyone are happy, we are great, we can beat everyone. But head coach Slavoljub Muslin was still fired under unclear circumstances.

Krstajic arrived and now after first defeat, he is not good by opinion of majority. Until recently we could hear how ex Chelsea now Zenit player, Branislav Ivanovic is too old and is not good enough anymore, but when Krstajic removed him from the starting eleven and when replaced Ivanovic from the captain position, now everyone asking where is Ivanovic? Ivanovic must play!

BTW, Nemanja Matic was also one of the players targeted by the media and as a result, the Man. Utd player said no more statements for Serbian media.

All this is just small example how tough is to be in or around Serbian national football team.

But if there is something good, then it's a fact we can expect much better game from them this time and first of all stronger starting eleven than vs Morocco.

Namely, against Morocco the head coach Krstajic combined a lot in defense. We saw Dusko Tosic from Besiktas, then Maksimovic played, Basta has returned into starting eleven and all that looked pretty bad. Plus even goalkeeper was not the best Serbia has, in fact it was Dmitrovic who is our third option on goal after Vladimir Stojkovic and Predrag Rajkovic. Also important player, defensive midfielder Luka Milivojevic (Crystal Palace) was not the starter in game in Torino.

Serbian team vs Morocco:

Dmitrović - Basta, Maksimović (73. Ivanović), Tošić, Kolarov (79. Obradović) - Živković (46. Milivojević), Matić (67. Grujić) - Tadić (70. Gaćinović), Ljajić (83. Prijović), Kostić – Mitrović.

All in all, it wasn't great game but I can't agree it was disaster either. I mean we can find excuses in fact that wasn't the best team Serbia has. Plus, Morocco is not some huge underdog, they are World Cup participant too.

So, we can expect better game from Serbia now but the problem is cause the opponent seems to be stronger too. I mean Nigeria seems like very respectful side, another World Cup participant.

The other day when Serbia played and lost from Morocco, Nigeria met and won 1:0 against Poland. It was third straight victory for this African team and even 8th straight without loss. Also note Nigeria has scored at least once in every of those eight games.

Note game against Poland was not on neutral location but it was in Poland. Also note Poland was with strong team (Robert Lewandowski, Kamil Glik , Piotr Zielinski and Lukas Piszczek all played at least halftime if not entire game).

Nigerian team in the mentioned match:

Uzoho - Shehu (78. Ebuehi), Haddad, Idowu, Balogun (74. Omeruo) - Moses, Ndidi, Obi Mikel (65. Onazi), Iwobi (59. Musa) - Iheanacho (82. Ogu) - Ighalo (89. Simon).

So, very strong Nigerian team. Against Serbia won't play Obi Mikel but Mikel Agu is called as a replacement.

I believe Nigeria will continue this eight game long streak with at least one scored goal. Especially since Serbia still looking for the best possible defensive formation. Last time as I said their defense looked bad, so this time we probably will see few changes but that defense in any case seems questionable.

On the other side I believe Serbia will score at least once too. Offense definitely is better part of this team. Aleksandar Mitrovic is amazing (Mitro is on fire), great choice from him that he decided to leave Newcastle and since he is in Fulham, Mitrovic scores almost every game.

So, Both Teams To Score? Yes, for me is bet worth of risk especially given on this almost even odds.

Correct score 1:1.

That would be great, especially if we see goal
03/26/2018 - 22:26
goal each in first 15 to 20 minutes :)

Maybe a Nigeria win or draw and over 1.5/would be good value

Nigeria could be stronger than the last match; the team humbly agreed they were below par agains Poland although they won.

Tyronne replaces Abdullahi in left back. Mainz's Leon Balogun will face a late fitness test but could be replaced by Omeruo who has not been having a solid partnership with Troost Ekong. He used to be the standing 5 but lost form sometime ago but he is slow . So if he plays (most likely will), I think I like your bet.

The midfield should be stronger with Torino Joel Obi playing Att midfielder, Leicester Ndidi (EPL best tackler) and Onazi.

Unpredictable Musa will play a false 9 while Chelsea's Moses and Arsenal's Iwobi can drift in from the flank.

nice one fairplaynaija but i think Musa would come in for Iwobi on the right flank
03/27/2018 - 12:40
Yes, more like the two players switching often time in the game; that's what I mean by Musa's false 9. You and I know it could be hard to trust Musa on a good day :).

So, it's official Leon Balogun starts. He's been able to have a formidable partnership with Ekong. Tyronne though defender offers something for the attack and alot of fans prefer him to regular Shehu who is injured. I think a 1-1 is the most likely outcome. I will try a CS punt; that's where I find some value.

Thank you guys for your opinions and for useful additional info. I appreciate it.
I would add also that it's Barnet stadium in question. Very small capacity, around 5 thousands. And if mean something, probably will be crowded with Nigerian fans given on fact there are 100+ K Nigerians living in London.
