St Mirren vs Dumbarton

Mid-week Scottish Championship games see the leaders St Mirren welcome part timers Dumbarton to Paisley.

St Mirren have been surprisingly good this season after struggling since their relegation from the Premiership a few seasons ago. The main reason for their success this season has been their home form, picking up a cool 37 points from their 14 games. 10 more than Dundee United on home soil. The Buddies have lost only 1 league home game since January 2017 which was ironically against Dumbarton back in December.

St Mirren should be able to field a strong side with Lewis Morgan coming back from illness in their last match against Queen of the South, significantly over a week a go. Gavin Reilly and Cameron Smith also know where the goal is to add extra threat.

Interestingly, St Mirren have won their last 6 home games without conceding a goal.

Dumbarton are a part time side without much ambition to grow as a club. They currently occupy the relegation play-off position and the chances are they will finish the season there. The Sons have won their last 2 fixtures but they were both against rock bottom Brechin City, a side who pretty much lose every game and will be relegated in May.

Dumbarton last played only 3 days ago, in the Challenge Cup final against inverness and went down to a last minute defeat. This was a big game for Dumbarton, a match where their players should have put in 110% with it being a final.

With St Mirren being the better side and dominant on home soil, plus with a much more rested squad this match will likely end up as a home win.

No bet is ever a sure win, always bet with a stake you can afford to lose.

Good tip. St Mirren's home record is P14 W12 D1 L1 F/A 29:9 .

Dumbarton - suprisingly - have only conceeded 12 goals in 13 away games this season, but tonight they're playing the best team in the division - and having just lost their first proper cup final in over 100 years at the weekend, their heads are likely to be down.
