Toronto FC vs Columbus Crew

The MLS returns this weekend and the current champions will kick off another season at home as Toronto welcome Columbus Crew north of the border in Canada.

Toronto were deserved winners of the 2017 MLS. They finished top of their Conference, a nice 12 points clear of 2nd placed New York City. They eventually ended up as champions with a 2-0 victory over Seattle Sounders, the side who knocked them out of the 2016 MLS finals, a season Toronto were also heavily tipped to win.

Importantly they've kept all of their stars from the title winning season. Giovinco and Altidore will likely feature heavily again and will probably supply most of their goals. They have also added to their squad by bringing in Gregory van der Wiel who has a lot of experience with clubs like Ajax and PSG. He will surely star at the back in this league.

Columbus Crew finished 5th in their Conference last season, making the play-offs. They made it all the way to the Conference finals were they lost to Toronto 1-0 over two legs.

One issue they might have is the fact they've lost their top scorer from last season, Kamara, who has left for LA Galaxy. They haven't added too much quality to their squad either, bringing in mostly players from other US leagues. It will be interesting to see who gets their goals this season.
