Denver Nuggets vs Los Angeles Lakers prediction

Game: Denver – LA Lakers

Bet: Anthony Davis over 24.5

Stake: 9

Nuggets are hosting Lakers on Wednesday.

I talked about Denver a couple days ago. They have a strong team with great depth and I see them as one of the contenders in this post Warriors era, although I doubt, they can go all the way. They are 2nd in West with 38-16 record and are also in good form with 8 wins in last 10 games. They play slower and more defensive based basketball. Stats support that as they rank at 2nd slowest pace and allow 4th fewest points to opponents. Meanwhile, their offense is solid, ranking 19th in points scored, especially when you consider their slow pace. Even though their D is formidable, they are weak on the C position as Jokic is a bad defender. They rank 2nd worst at guarding C. Barton, Porter and Plumlee are injured for this game.

After a disappointing season last year, Lakers are back in the title conversation. It’s LeBron’s 2nd year in LA and even at 35 years he’s still one of the best players in the league. He has some help this year in arguably best big men in the league Davis. Other than that, this team is filled with experienced veterans Rondo, Green, Howard, Bradley. Also playing well are McGee, Kuzma, Caruso and KCP. Yes, McGee and KCP are a constant threat for Shaqtin a fool appearances, but they’re still playing quite well. They lead Western conference with 40-12 record and are playing solid with 6 wins in last 10 games. They too play a bit faster but also depend more on defense as they rank 13th in pace and allow 6th fewest points to opponents. Their offense is above average as well, as they rank 7th in points scored. They’re without any notable absences.

Davis came to LA this offseason from NO. He is one of the best big men in the league. He is long, agile, has range, is great in the post and an amazing defender. It was interesting to see how he’ll mesh with LeBron, but so far so good. His averages are almost the same with a slight dip in rebounds (courtesy of LeBron, Howard and McGee). He and LeBron are somewhat equal on offense as it seems they exchange in leading it depending on the matchup. He is averaging 26.5 ppg on the season and is in solid form scoring 25, 27 and 32 in his last 3 games. As I said before, Denver is weak defensively at the C. And even though Davis is a PF, he is Lakers’ main scoring threat in the paint. Jokic can’t guard him and neither can Grant who isn’t strong enough. Millsap, who is a solid defender and could compete with Davis given his size and strength, is back for Denver, but he’s playing limited minutes so he shouldn’t be a problem. Davis played Denver twice this season already, scoring 32 and 25.

All in all, I expect Davis to be Lakers’ main offensive weapon today and given Denver’s woes in the paint I think he can dominate.

Good luck!

My bookie as over 25.5.
Is it safe?

Again, it's better if you have a lower line, but I think he will go over 25.5 also. In recent games his line was usually around 26.5 or 27.5. So given everything I've written above about Denver having troubles under the rim I think even 25.5 is pretty safe. Gl
