Philadelphia 76ers vs Los Angeles Clippers prediction

76ers are hosting Clippers on Tuesday.

Today we have a very interesting matchup on our hands. In my opinion two of the best teams in the league are facing each other. I wouldn’t be to surprised if we see these two teams in the finals, especially this year where we have so many strong teams. Philadelphia has a great starting unit and they also brought Burks and Robinson to improve their depth. They are 5th in East with 33-21 record. They’ve won 5 out of last 10 games which isn’t good for a contender, but that’s mostly because they’re terrible on the road. At home, they’ve lost just 2 games all season. Overall, they play at a slower pace (ranking 17th), which shows on offense (22nd in points scored) and defense (3th best in points allowed). They are without notable absences today.

Clippers also have a championship team, led by Leonard and George. They also have great depth with players like Williams, Harrell, Shamet and Beverly. At the trade deadline they brought another role player in Morris, but they didn’t attend their biggest need in my opinion and that is help at the C position, as most contenders are very strong there. They rank 3th in West with 37-16 record and their form is solid with 7 wins in last 10 games. Overall, they play faster and more attack-oriented (ranking 8th in pace and 4th in points scored), but they still have solid D (13th best in points allowed). They’re missing Beverly for this game.

Given Philly’s superior home form and the fact that Clippers are weaker on the road, I prefer a bet on players. I was thinking about going with over on Leonard but the odds are falling fast (bet365 has it at just 1.66 now). The other option was Embiid. The main reason I like Embiid is that, as I said, I think Clippers’ biggest weakness is the C position. I can’t see who can guard Embiid on this team. Leonard and George are phenomenal defenders but they are to small and weak for Embiid, so they will probably make life miserable for Harris, Richardson and to some extent even Simmons. That leaves Embiid as 76ers’ first scoring threat. Also, the All-star weekend is coming up, so Embiid will have 9 days of rest and that means he can go all out today, against a top team. He is playing in the All-star game, but that is not a serious competitive game, but more like a fun practice. All in all, I like Embiids chances for today, I just hope that his recent injury woes are completely behind him.

Good luck!

Don't mean to comment a lot on your predictions but some things on your texts i just don't understand... which contenders (you say most) are really strong at the C position? do you consider utah and denver contenders? since they are the only teams that are close that have really good Cs

Common guys you cant just downvote for fun.
This is actually a great one, win or not!
After Philly fans booed the team repeatedly, which resulted in Embiid's tweets (hinted that he wants to leave the team), Horford for the first time since his rookie season will start from the bench today! That means that the Bret figured that he can't f**k with his biggest star and the team will work for him at least for now.
