Chicago Bulls vs Golden State Warriors

Game: Chicago – Golden State

Bet: Zach LaVine over 23.5

Stake: 8

Bulls are hosting Warriors on Friday.

It's quite long since Chicago Bulls were championship contenders with Jordan and more recently Rose. They were cruising around the bottom half of the league the past few years. But they did manage to build a young somewhat talented team with a few veterans. They have very promising big man in Markkanen and Carter Jr., exciting rookie guard White, solid veterans like Porter Jr. and Young and of course their leader LaVine. A promising team on paper but they stayed true to their norm from recent years of playing hot and cold with more hiccups than good games. Porter is injured so the main offensive burden should be on Markkanen and LaVine. But Markkanen in severly underperforming this season so they have to depend on LaVine if they want to win games.

LaVine is playing his third season in Windy city. He came from Minesotta via Jimmy Butler trade. Last season was his breakout season as he made great improvements in his offensive game averaging 23.7 ppg compared to 16.7 the year prior. He made a transition from being just an athletic freak to a very competent scorer. This year he was supposed to make another step forward and be a clear leader on this young team. Reports from camp were great and he was averaging over 20 ppg in just 20 min of play in the preseason. But preseason is just what it is – PRE season. When the season started he was dealing with his usual enemy, as did the Bulls team as a whole, inconsistency. He started the season with 16 points against Charlotte, then 37 against Memphis and just 11 against Toronto. Granted his performances may be a bit matchup related, but he did score 26 against the Lakers and just 10 against a bad defensive team Atlanta. But recently he started to seriously heat up. If we look closer, he was benched on november 22nd for defensive errors. Since then he is averaging 30.6 ppg in 6 games with just one game not going over suggested line of 23 points.

On the other side are the Warriors. How the mighty have fallen. Playing without injured Curry, Thompson and, for some time, Russell and Green, and being without Durant, Cousins and veteran leadership from Iguodala and Livingston, life hasn't been easy on them. They are dead last in the league with a 4-19 record and playoff is just an afterthought at this point. They allow 9th most points in the league with 114.7 per game. They are second to last at defending the SG position with 27.7 points allowed per game. If we know they are in the bottom half in terms of pace, we know that these are just bad numbers.

Going back to the bet at hand. Warriors got Russell back so I think they're going to be a bit more competitive. Moreover the Bulls are also not very good, proof being these teams met around a week ago and Warriors won. In that game LaVine scored 36 points. If the Bulls want to win, LaVine will have to carry them. Given that he is in the middle of an amazing scoring run I'm confident about riding the hot hand.

Good luck!
