Indiana Pacers vs Atlanta Hawks (By: Miyagi)

Las Vegas Summer League.

Summer League key Rules: ●The game consists of four 10-minute quarters in regulation ●A team reaches the penalty either on its 10th team foul or 2nd team foul in the last two minutes of each period. ●A player fouls out once he commits his 10th personal foul. New rule: Fouls that prevent fast breaks (clear path or not) lead to a single free throw for the team losing the fast break opportunity and possession of the ball.

The Hawks (0-2) and the Pacers (0-2) are two of the seven teams in the Summer League that have failed to record a win so far. The Pacers come from a 102-84 loss to the Pistons, one of the best teams in SL, which was their second loss in LV after the one against the Grizzlies (101-75). They struggled offensively(28-77, 36.4% FG) and especially from beyond the arc (5-24, 20.8% 3P) but the main concern was that once again they had huge trouble defensively against big guys as the Pistons' front line (Donte Hall, Costello, Uthoff) combined for half their team's total points (48p, 16-22 FG).

Aaron, the youngest of the Holiday brothers (Jrue, Justin), is running the show for the Pacers so far as he averages 22p, 4,5 assists in 35 minutes per game and he has a very big role as it seems that the Pacers prepare him for a spot in their NBA rotation. Sumner, their other quality guard, missed the last game with a foot injury and he is questionable. The familiar face to us, C Goga Bitadze is about to receive his US visa today and travel to join the team but although he might be on time, they don't have plans to risk with him today.

The Haws come from a 90-66 loss to the Timberwolves and another poor offensive display (20-70, 28% FG. 5-25, 20% 3P), in what was, in general, a very ugly game. De'Andre Hunter and B.Fernando, who signed contracts with the Hawks, made their debuts but they failed to make an impact right away as they combined for 11 points (4-13 FG). F Charles Brown missed the previous two games and is not expected to dress up for this one, while the main issue for the Hawks is that they will miss, allegedly, their best player in SL so far, O.Spellman (12p, 8 reb, 3 block, 40% FG) who was traded to the Warriors. That creates more issues to the already weak Hawks' front line, on both ends of the court.

The Pacers will enter this game with 1 less day of rest though they have more quality in their roster, Hunter/ Fernando failed to show much in their debuts and the Hawks, in general, have been poor in transition defensively which will be an issue against the Pacers and without Spellman, they will have even more trouble at the rim. The Pacers will face a team that doesn't have as much strength in the front line and that should make their task a lot-lot easier on both ends of the floor thus i expect them to get their first win today. I find those odds great for much better functioning Pacers,
