BATE Borisov vs FK Sarajevo (By: DamirJ)

BATE looked far better than the opponents on the road in the first leg and celebrated 2:1 victory more than deservedly.

They took were the much better side for eighty minutes or so, only allowing their hosts to reduce the deficit towards the end. They disappointed in the Champions League qualifiers winning over Piast Gliwice but losing out to Rosenborg.

They, however, will have an easier path to the Europa League group stage comparing to Champions League, as they'll await most likely FC Astana in the play-off round.

The team also comes from a 4:1 home victory over Energetik-BGU last Sunday afternoon, thanks to great first thirty minutes when they scored all four goals. The side continues to be second at the table with two points less than leaders from Brest.

Defender Filipenko (14/0), offensive Milic (10/2), Saroka (10/2) and goalkeeper Scherbitsky (10/0) are injured for the hosts, missing from the start of European campaign.

FK Sarajevo had some high hopes for the first leg but proved to be wrong on the field. Not only they lacked real tempo and intensity, but also it was obvious that the players of BATE stand much better on the field.

The guests simply looked like knowing always what to do in every situation and simply - being far more experienced side.

They'll need to risk in this one, but knowing their quality, it should represent a hell of a task for them.

Sarajevo didn't play in the latest domestic league round, trying to preserve some energy and prepare better for this clash.

Defenders Dupovac, Pidro and midfielders Stanojevic and Rahmanovic are injured for the guests since the start of the season.

BATE showed their quality in the first leg and now when the players of Sarajevo need to risk and open up, the team from Boris should look even more convincing.

They looked like a far more experienced side in the first leg and with the help of own fans, this should be another autorotative performance from them.
