Liverpool vs Bayern Munich prediction

My Champions league prediction for today is for the match between Bayern Munich and Liverpool. This Season Liverpool has been the team to beat, especially @ Anfield where they have been a force of intimidation for most of their opponents with the exception of Manchester City. Liverpool has historically been very formidable in attack, but weak in defence before Vigil Van Dijk (VvD) joined them this season, and helped them to achieve unbelievable defensive records of 0.58 goals per match played, against Bayern 1.18 goals conceded per match. Liverpool has scored average 2.5goals per match in the last 8 league matches, and Bayern have scored 2.75 goals per match. I expect to see goals in this fixture of two attack and intensity focused teams.

However leading to this match, the service of VvD will not be available due to suspension for accumulation of yellow cards. In addition the absence of Joe Gomez due to a knee injury will make Liverpool open at the back for a quick counter attack from the Bayern Team. I thus expect the visitors to record a goal in today's encounter. There is story of Firminho being doubtful for the encounter due to injury, but I expect that he may be available for a substitute in the even that a change in style or approach to the attack is needed. The other pair of the dynamic trio of Sadio Mane, and Mohammed Salah can count on the quick and insisve runs from Xherdan Shaqiri to step in from the mid-field to give support to the attack in the absence of Firminio, so I believe that Liverpool still has what it takes to outscore Bayern to clinch the Victory at Home in Anfield. The "Reds" know that they will have to make good their opportunity to play the first leg @ Anfield, as Bayern will be a tough cookie to play back in the 2nd leg in Munich.

Bayern will miss the services of a key defensive team member in person of Jerome Boateng, and this is an opportunity that Liverpoool should recognize to take advantage of.Other key misses in the Bayern mid-field include Arjen Robben, and Goretzka Leon both of whom are likely out due to injury problems. Bayern will hope to have their complete squad available for the next leg encounter, and will have task of getting the important away goal in this fixture despite obvious weakness in their mid-field due to absences.
