Bologna once again looked really good against more reputable teams, coming from a 2:3 victory away from home against Roma. Their counter-attacking football and fast transition were deadly for the team from the capital too, as the guests didn't look frightened to attack from the first minute.
They had the 1:3 lead thanks to two goals from Barrow and a goal from Orsolini, staying a bit behind the ball in the second after having the two goals lead. It paid off to them, even though Roma did create quite a number of chances in the second half.
This is a third consecutive victory in Serie A for them, after previously being better than Spal and Brescia - the atmosphere can't be much better.
They only point behind the sixth-placed Verona and now have a chance to even dream about the European exit in case of a victory here. A victory that is likely looking at the current form.
Bologna team news
Midfielder Krejci (10/1) is injured, as well as defensive midfielder Medel (13/0). Forwards Sansone (21/4) and Santander (19/1) are kinda new absentees missing from the previous weekend. Newly signed forward Barrow (4/3) should be ready to start after suffering a slight ankle injury.
After a run of four matches with no victory, Genoa finally got what was needed in a 1:0 win over Cagliari last Sunday afternoon.
A goal from Pandev in the 43rd minute made the difference overall, in quite an open game during which both teams had their chances to score. The final result may sound a bit unfair for the visitors, as they really tried badly in the second halftime and missed some good opportunities.
With a point taken out of each previous two games, away to Atalanta and Fiorentina, there's no doubt that the morale has improved in Genoa, as they now stand only three points behind safely placed Lecce. Still, their defensive vulnerability is a let down so far being one of the worst defensive lineups in Serie A.
Genoa team news
Midfielder Lerager (11/0) is missing for some time already and should continue to be out. Central defender Zapata (12/1) and left-back Pajac (11/0) should also continue to miss coming off from injuries.
Their form should continue
The momentum is strong with the home side in this one and there's overall very little what Genoa can do to be completely competitive. They do come from a positive result too but were simply too weak away from home so far. Six points out of twelve matches and the last place position away from home speak for itself.
Knowing how both teams play, Bologna doesn't even need to attack their visitors in order to be really threatening during the clash and most likely effective too.
