Valencia

Neither of the teams are going into this match in any way close to a decent form. Or a decent form that is required for the standards of the reputation of their clubs.

After being excluded from the Copa del Rey competition away to Granada when they paid the price for uncreative performance despite having control over the ball, Valencia suffered 3:0 loss away to in-form Getafe too last weekend.

They simply couldn't cope with the fast-ball transition of the home team, that looked deadly serious every time they had the ball to their possession. They now stand only sixth at the table, but luckily for them, they can get back to the Champions League positions in case of a victory here.

Valencia team news

Defender Garay (17/0) is out injured. Unlikely to play are also defender Costa (12/0) and forwards Gameiro (14/4) and Vallejo (9/1). Goalkeeper Cillessen (14/0) is coming off from hip injury currently.

Atletico Madrid

Atletico didn't show many impressive things in a narrow 1:0 victory over Granada at home last weekend. It was a win in their style, as they didn't create a lot and looked generally satisfied throughout the game with the early lead they have taken.

This win not only came as a response to a defeat in a local derby match against Real but also broke their winless run of five competitive matches in all competitions.

Atletico Madrid team news

The guests miss right defender Trippier (16/0) is out injured, while participation of offensive players Costa (11/2), Felix (17/2) and Morata (19/7) is questionable. Even if some of them play, it's difficult to see them at the highest level. Doubtful are also defender Arias (6/0) and midfielder Herrera (14/0).

Reason

Valencia themselves isn't in the best possible form, but the team is showing completely different face in front of own fans. Pretty much the similar can be said for Atletico, but just in a negative context.

Ball movement and effectivity should be the main deciding factor int his one and Atletico is nowhere close to their good old form in recent weeks.
