Charleroi was pressured to a pretty defensive and passive role during the whole game, not being able to pull out anything better than a narrow 1:0 loss away to Genk.
It was the hosts who looked more creative and simply better, especially in the first halftime. Genk even missed the penalty kick very early, but still got the lead via Hrosovsky in the 39th minute which turned out to be the only goal.
Despite more of the ball possession in the second halftime, Charleroi failed to be more concrete and couldn't make the game more interesting overall.
After two draw matches, this is their first loss, now having no victory in the last three Jupiler rounds. They are sharing the fourth position together with Standard Liege and in case of a victory would make the decisive step towards participation in the playoff stage.
Midfielder Diandy (13/1) should be the only injury absentee for the hosts.
Waregem reacted really well in their 5:0 home victory over Waasland-Beveren. They appeared very concrete with the ball to their feet and took three points deservedly.
Beveren had their chances too, probably deserving to score a goal - but overall the high margin victory for Zulte was more than deserved, especially after their great first halftime.
The team now stands just below the playoff zone, having three points less than sixth-placed Genk. On the road, they remain a rather unimpressive counting now four consecutive losses. They also got busy during the midweek losing out to Club Brugge 1:2 at home in the semifinals of the Cup competition.
Zulte remains an underdog in this one and although the team needs to seek points in this one looking at the table - it's really difficult to see them walking away with something. In a scenario, in case they stay passive and in a scenario in case they try to risk.
Defender Pletinckx (20/0) remains injured for a couple of weeks now. Doubtful are midfielders Seck (21/2) and Govea (18/2).
It should be time for Charleroi to respond here. Waregem doesn't seem able to stop the teams of Charleroi's quality when playing on the road. The visitors are having far from a reliable defensive lineup and shouldn't be able to stay competitive in this one for too long.
