Union Berlin vs Cologne

After three consecutive victories and a really good run from Union Berlin actually, the side couldn't do more in a 2:1 defeat away to Schalke last weekend.

Even though, they left an impression of a very good and combative side in an overall quite an open game.

They leveled up in the first halftime via penalty kick taken by Ingvartsen, however, stood pretty fine on the field and actually created more than what the final result says.

Still, the home side managed to score the second goal in the 86th minute leaving no time for the guests to reply back.

Union is now four points above the relegation zone and surely aiming to detach themselves even further away from the red zone.

Forward Abdullahi (3/0) is out injured, while the hosts should also miss forward Mees (5/0). Midfielder Promel (2/0) and offensive midfielder Gogia (3/0) are out injured too. Central back Schlotterback (9/0) is doubtful for the moment.

Koln was set as a favorite in a home clash against Augsburg last weekend, but the team managed to get just a point in a 1:1 game.

Truth to be told, they were actually better than the opponents having more of the ball possession and chances created, but the development of the match didn't go in their favor.

They stood behind in the scoreline in the first halftime and had to chase the result, being much better in the second halftime but only managing to level up the result via Cordoba in the 86th minute.

The team is now without a victory in the last five rounds, but also broke an ugly run of four defeats - being four points behind the safe zone for the moment.

The guests will miss suspended central defender Czichos (12/1) and left-back Hector (13/1). A couple of more are sidelined, but long-term ones without playing this season anyway.

FC Koeln have conceded at least 2 goals in 10 of their last 12 away matches (Bundesliga).

With the way Union Berlin plays recently in their own field, it's really difficult to see anything but their victory. Koln did maybe improve slightly, however, it shouldn't be enough to stay competitive against rock-solid Union in the defense.
