CSKA Sofia vs Etar 1924 Veliko Tarnovo (By: Isaiah)

CSKA Sofia improved significantly in the previous season and came as close as possible to win the title finishing with just a point less than Ludogorets.

They were second for the most of the season and didn't deserve that title - still, everyone thinks that the new season could be that one.

The side had quite extensive preparation period, having five matches so far and finishing it in style with a victory over Salzburg.

Other than that, they had losses against Ferncvaros and Shakhtar Donetsk (each 1:0), while the side easily won over Lokomotiv Gorna and Pribram from the Czech Republic, both 3:0.

They have reinforced the team with quite a few players, including goalkeeper Busatto from Ituano, central back Tomas from Belenenses, strikers Davydov from Nizhny Novgorod, Watt from St Johnstone, midfielder Carey from Plymouth and offensive Fabbrini from Botosani. Defender Bodurov is injured for this one.

Etar ended up in the relegation group last season, however, finished first in their group and later on won over Lokomotiv Plovid and Slavia Sofia, but Levski was too much for them and the team didn't manage to earn the Europa League exit.

It was a fine result as they otherwise ended as the seventh team in Parva Liga at the end of the regular part of the season which had 26 rounds. Away from home, they have earned just modest fourteen points comparing to twenty-six home points.

In the last preparation game, they have won 2:0 over Litex Lovech, a side that is competing in the second tier of Bulgarian football.

Etar didn't change the team much for now, opting for domestic players such as right back Dyulgerov from Septemvri Sofia and defensive midfielder Apostolov from Botev Vratsa. On the other side, offensive Batrovic left them for Radnicki Nis, while midfielder Sarmov has gone to Chemnitzer.

CSKA Sofia looked already really well against Titograd last Tuesday and since they practically already progressed in the second round, I expect their best starting lineup here and more of the same again.

The team is looking better season after season and this one should be even more competitive in the title battle. An obstacle in the first round and in front of own fans is very unlikely this time. Odds are rising a bit since the hosts might rotate a bit, but I don't expect it to be the case, since they already have four goals lead over Titograd.

Isaiah, you forgot just to mention one very important thing- Etar changed the coach of the team- it's no more Krasimir Balakov, who took our national team, while Rosen Kirilov is the one who leads Etar for the current season.

Infact, Etar are not a bad team, but their main problem is that they usually succeed to take points at home. As visitors they are just awful and this season I don't expect anything different.

CSKA reinforced the team with a lot of players. Fabbrini from Botosani was just unstoppable against Titograd and he is going to be the key player in attack. CSKA didn't rotate the team for this match, they will go with their absolutely best starting line-up. You made a little mistake about Bodurov- he is not injured, he will start today. He missed the first match against Titograd dur to suspension.

So, I also expect very impressive performance by CSKA and another smashing win. At least with 2 goals difference!

Good luck!
